* CALL TO WORSHIP (Psalm 92:1-2) Rev. Greg Gibson

Pastor: It is good to praise the Lord
and make music to your name, O Most High,
People: proclaiming your love in the morning
and your faithfulness at night.

* OPENING HYMN 88 Maker in Whom We Live DIADEMATA

1. Maker, in whom we live, in whom we are and move,
the glory, pow’r, and praise receive for thy creating love.
Let all the angel throng give thanks to God on high,
while earth repeats the joyful song and echoes to the sky.
2. Incarnate Deity, let all the ransomed race
render in thanks their lives to thee for thy redeeming grace.
The grace to sinners showed ye heavenly choirs proclaim,
and cry, “Salvation to our God, salvation to the Lamb!”
3. Spirit of Holiness, let all thy saints adore
thy sacred energy, and bless thine heart-renewing power.
Not angel tongues can tell thy love’s ecstatic height,
the glorious joy unspeakable, the beatific sight.
4. Eternal, Triune God, let all the hosts above,
let all on earth below record and dwell upon thy love.
When heaven and earth are fled before thy glorious face,
sing all the saints thy love hath made thine everlasting praise.

* AFFIRMATION OF FAITH (The Apostles’ Creed)

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth;
and in Jesus Christ his only Son, our Lord;
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, dead, and buried; the third day he rose from the dead;
he ascended into heaven, and sitteth at the right hand of God the Father Almighty;
from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

* GLORIA PATRI 70 MEINEKE

Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Ghost.
As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be,
world without end. Amen. Amen.
SACRAMENT OF BAPTISM Wrenleigh Olivia Rosteck

CONGREGATIONAL RESPONSE
With God’s help we will so order our lives after the example of Christ,
that this child, surrounded by steadfast love, may be established in the faith,
and confirmed and strengthened in the way that leads to life eternal.

CALL TO PRAYER Rev. Greg Gibson

We know that nothing is able to separate us from the love of God in Jesus Christ.
With this assurance, let us go to the Lord in prayer.

CONGREGATIONAL PRAYER
Holy God, we give you thanks and praise for the beauty of this day,
and for all the promise it offers. We thank you for life, for joy,
and for every opportunity to walk with you as children of the light.
As we remember the lavish gift of your grace symbolized in baptism,
O God, we praise you and give thanks that you forgive us yet again.
Grant us now, we pray, the grace to die daily to sin,
and to rise daily to new life in Christ, who lives and reigns with you,
and in whose strong name we pray. Amen.

PASTORAL PRAYER

THE LORD’S PRAYER

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name.
Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil,
for Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

Praise God from whom all blessings flow.
Praise Him, all creatures here below.
Praise Him above, ye heavenly host.
Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.

SCRIPTURE LESSON Colossians 1:9-12

So we have not stopped praying for you since we first heard about you. We ask God to give you
complete knowledge of his will and to give you spiritual wisdom and understanding. Then the way
you live will always honor and please the Lord, and your lives will produce every kind of good fruit.
All the while, you will grow as you learn to know God better and better. We also pray that you will be
strengthened with all his glorious power so you will have all the endurance and patience you need.
May you be filled with joy, always thanking the Father.
This is the Word of God for the people of God.
Thanks be to God.
SERMON “BEFORE WE GET STARTED…” Rev. Carness Vaughan
The Paul Prayer

* CLOSING HYMN 98 To God Be the Glory TO GOD BE THE GLORY

1. To God be the glory, great things he hath done!
So loved he the world that he gave us his Son,
who yielded his life an atonement for sin,
and opened the life-gate that all may go in.
(Refrain)
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, let the earth hear his voice!
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, let the people rejoice!
O come to the Father thru Jesus the Son,
and give him the glory, great things he hath done!
2. O perfect redemption, the purchase of blood,
to every believer the promise of God;
the vilest offender who truly believes,
that moment from Jesus a pardon receives. (Refrain)
