IV. PROCEDURES

A. Reviewing previous lesson or Do you know any local heroes here in Aklan?

presenting the new lesson Are you familiar with the XIX Martyrs?

Can you name them? (Pupils will name the

members of XIX Martyrs.)

B. Establishing a purpose for the Today, let us be familiar with the different XIX
lesson Martyrs of Aklan who joined the forces of Gen.

Francisco del Castillo in attacking the Spanish

garrison.
C. Presenting examples/instances Out of 19 Martyrs, 32% of the members live in

of the new lesson Kalibo. The rest are from different towns here in

Aklan. How many 19 Martyrs members live in

Kalibo?
D. Discussing new concepts and Discuss the meaning of percentage and how to

practicing new skill #1 solve the percentage.

Identify the rate and base in the given problem.

Formula:

P=BxR

Solve: What is 32% of 19?

Given: B = 19

R = 32%

P=?

Solution: P = B x R

P = 19 x 32%

P = 19 x 0.32

P = 6.08

So, 32% of 19 is 6.08

Or there are 6 martyrs live in Kalibo.

E. Discussing new concepts and If there are 6 XIX martyrs who live in Kalibo, 13

practicing new skill #2 of them are not from Kalibo.

F. Developing mastery (Leads to Find the percentage of the following:

Formative Assessment) Base Rate Percentage

120 10

300 20

800 35

150 49

210 90

G. Finding practical applications of

Why is it important to know our local heroes like
concepts and skills in daily

living
H. Making generalizations and What is percentage?

abstractions about the lesson How do we solve percentage?

I. Evaluating learning Solve the following percentage problems.

1. Angelo, a basketball player, usually scores

88% of his field shots? If he attempts 50

field shots during a game, how many did he

score?

2. Fifty-six percent of people surveyed said

that they exercised fairly regular basis. If 1

100 people were surveyed, how many of

them exercise?
J. Additional activities for To be done by groups of 5

application or remediation Write a problem on percentage that involves our

local heroes.
