Activity 5. I CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!

Create a short video on your contributions in helping cease the spread

COVID-19, HIV/AIDS and other communicable diseases in your community.
The coronavirus pandemic has pushed people across the world into difficult
times and uncertainty. But we can all play our part and make the world a little bit
better by contributing to the fight against coronavirus, whether that's by
volunteering, staying informed or contributing to research.
One of the best ways that I do to contribute to the fight against coronavirus
is simply to follow the guidance which has been set out by the government and
the NHS. Stay up to date with any changes to this guidance and encourage others
to do the same.
By staying at home as much as possible, going out once a day only for
exercise in non-crowded areas and minimizing the number of times I go out
shopping for food, it can reduce the risk to myself and to others. Remember that
if you do come into contact with other people - for example, in a shop - you need
to maintain social distancing by keeping two metres apart at all times. I wash or
sanitize my hands as often as I can and I do avoid touching my face without
washing my hands first.
If we all follow these rules, taking some simple precautions, such as physical
distancing, wearing a mask, keeping rooms well ventilated, avoiding crowds,
cleaning the hands, and coughing into a bent elbow or tissue. And also checking
local advice where you live and work, surely we can minimize the spread and
flatten the curve of infections. Lastly, another way that I can help reduce the
spread is by educating others. Sharing articles with my family and friends so they
can also help prevent the people they love from getting sick. We must also stay
well. I really look after my mental health and be supportive of others. It is natural
to feel sad, stressed, confused, scared or angry during a crisis. But always keep in
mind, Together, forward in the fight against COVID-19.
4. Create a demonstration video of proper handwashing.
Step 1: Wet hands with water.
Step 2. Apply enough soap to cover all hand surfaces.
Step 3: Rub Palms Together.
Step 4. Right palm over left dorsum with interlaced fingers and vice versa.
Step 5: Palm to palm with fingers interlaced.
Step 6. Back of fingers to opposing palms with fingers interlocked.
Step 7: Clean the Thumbs.
Step 7: Rotational rubbing, backwards and forwards with clasped fingers of right
hand in left palm or vice versa.
Step 8. Rinse hands with water.
Step 9. Dry hands thoroughly with a single use towel.
Step 10. Use towel to turn off the faucet.
5. In a short video, show the proper ways to prevent the spread of COVID-19 or
other communicable diseases.
To control and suppress spread, we must take the fight to the virus.
o Wash your hands well and often. Use hand sanitizer when you’re not near
soap and water.
o Handle and prepare food safely.
o Establish a routine and practice mindful eating
o Keep hydrated
o Get enough quality sleep
o Try not to touch your face.
o Cover your mouth with your elbow when you cough or sneeze, or use a
tissue.
o Wear a face mask and face shield when you go out.
o When you do go out in public, leave at least 6 feet of space between you
and others.
o Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces to kill germs
o Sanitize parcels or packages first
o Don’t leave your house if you don’t feel well.
o Get information from trustworthy sources
6. Create a short video on the impact to your life of this pandemic and how you
were able to cope up with it.
The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic is drastically changing the lives of
people, including the lives of young people. Living in these circumstances can be
tough for young people for their social, physical and mental wellbeing. This
pandemic that made its way into our young lives and wreaked havoc upon its
wake. We are experiencing a global crisis not just on health, but also on many
aspects of our society that the extent of its damaging repercussions might be too
complex and complicated for us to digest.
This pandemic has made me become aware of certain things in life. I’ve
realized that as a society we have not placed a high importance on things that
actually matter, such as mental health and environmental health.
I also realized that most of us cannot stand being alone. We depend on
external things or situations to make us happy. So, when everything closed down
(e.g. museums, cinemas, bars, etc.), we had to depend on ourselves and it made
me realize, personally, how I had neglected my inner being. This crisis has given
me the opportunity to focus on my inner well-being by beginning to practice
meditation and being mindful of each moment. I believe that our external
environment reflects our inner well-being.
One thing is certain. Now, it is not an isolated case for me. Going through this
crisis is indeed not easy, and has never been easy with anyone else’s, too. We are
fighting our own battles right now. Being cut off to see our friends and family and
the outside world may have been a struggle. Still, I know that we could get
through this together. It is for our own good and for the greater good that we stay
in our homes. We could help our nation stand up and fight, for our health workers
at the frontlines in this battle.
Let us stay safe, well-informed and positive as we fight hand in hand. We will
get through this crisis together and we will be multiple steps closer towards a new
world with a healed humankind.
