sectional properties of the section with respect to X-X and Y-Y axis.

QUESTION 2

2.1 A cantilever beam spans 8 m and carries a uniformly distributed load as shown in
Figure 2. Draw the shear force and bending moment diagrams of the beam. (15)

2.2 Calculate and sketch the maximum resultant stress across the depth of the section
of the cantilever beam in Figure 2. The beam has a rectangular cross section of 200
mm wide and 300 mm deep and an axial compressive force of 100 kN is applied on
the centroid of the cross-section. (15)
