Hope this message finds you and your family in good health. This is to bring to your notice that the academic
year (2021-22) will commence for grade XI(SCIENCE) on 3.5.2021.
Classes will be held in the online mode on Microsoft Teams.
• Classes will begin at 8 a.m.
• The login ID and password will be sent to you through the ‘Next Element’ App.
• The time table for classes is attached below.
• A guided step by step, information for setting up the platform, Microsoft Teams is also attached.
• Kindly login using the login IDs and password to get started. Once you sign in using the school ID and
password, it will ask you to change the password. Please change the password, but write it down and
keep it safely as you will need it for all further logins.

Time table for the online classes for grade XI

Guidelines to students on how to log in to the ‘Microsoft Teams’ account

• To get started google ‘Microsoft Teams’ and download the app on the desktop.
• After the app is downloaded, sign in using the ID and password provided to you by the school, it will

ask you to change password.

• Please change the password, but write it down and keep it safely as you will need it for all future logins.

• Students will also receive an email notification when they have been added to a team.
• Once you log in you will see the tiles with all your classes mentioned on the screen. You are a member
of all the classes/teams that you can see.

• Follow the schedule of the Time Table sent and click on the tile to attend the class. Always ensure that
you log in and be ready before the commencement of the class.
• Once you click on a tile you will move to the page which will have the following as a header:

• When you click the ‘Posts’ tab, you will be able to see any posts put up by the teacher regarding
announcements, lessons, assignments and meetings scheduled.
• For the scheduled classes there will be a post as given below:

• You will click ‘Join’ to be a part of the class.


• Alternatively When signed in to, Students will see a notification sent in the calendar to ‘join now’.
• When you click ‘Join’, you will see a microphone and a webcam on your screen. Turn it off, till the
teacher starts the lesson and directs you to turn on your microphone.
• On clicking the tab ‘Join now’, students can see a floating bar on their screen showing the following
icons: time, video, audio, share, more actions, show conversation, hide participants, hang –up.

• On the left side of the screen there is another task bar having the following icons like activity, chat,
teams, assignments, calendar, calls, files, more added apps.

• While teaching the teacher will share her screen and explain the chapter.
• In case you want to ask any question, please type the same in the chat box or raise your hand using the
option you see on your screen. The teacher will answer your query.

• Avoid unmuting your microphone and interrupting the class. The teacher will break the chapter at
regular intervals to ask if there are queries or doubts. Raise your doubts at that point.
• If you wish to ask the teacher any questions/doubts that have arisen while you were revising, you can
post these questions in the conversation panel.
• When the teacher replies to your query, it will appear in your activity feed. You will also receive a
notification that the teacher has replied to your question.

• Under the ‘Files’ tab you will see ‘Class material’ and student folders. The teacher can upload any
relevant material in the class material. In the student folders, the students can upload word documents,
PPTs etc. that they wish to send to the teacher or they wish to use for any presentation for class
activities.
• The next tab is the ‘Class Notebook’. Here every student will have their individual notebook which
only the student and the teacher will have access to. No one else can access the class notebook.
• In the ‘Class Notebook’ the student can take notes, answer assignments and home work. These can then
be submitted to the teacher for correction and evaluation.
• On the ‘Assignment’ tab, you will see all the assignments that you are required to do, the deadlines for
submission and the rubrics for evaluation. These can be completed and submitted by the student. The
students will also be able to see the completed assignments with the feedback and marks received.
• To view an assignment and work on it the student has to click the particular tab. The student will be able
to see the title, due date and instructions. The student has to complete the assignment and then click the
‘Turn In’ tab.
• If the assignment has been assigned a due date and your assignment is past due and the teacher is not
accepting assignments after the due date, the student will not be able to submit the assignment. Hence
always ensure that you complete and submit your assignment in time.
• Clicking on the ‘Grades’ tab will help you see all the assignments you have completed throughout the
academic year.
• If you want to leave this team and join another team for the next class you must click the ‘All Teams’
tab on the top left hand corner and you will again see all the teams you are a part of.

Decorum for online classes
• Login to the online system before the start of class.
• Have a reliable internet connection.
• Start your meeting with your microphone and video muted and respond during the roll call.
• Avoid the use of emoticons.
• Avoid using the caps lock feature for asking questions AS IT CAN BE INTERPRETED AS YELLING.
• Be an active learner. You cannot learn effectively until and unless you participate in learning.
• Be prompt in submitting your assignments /activities on time.
• Treat your instructor(s) with respect during online communication.
• Be respectful and responsive.
• In case you arfe required to switch on your videos kindly follow the instructions given below:
i. Make sure you have good lighting; face an open window or put a lamp next to your laptop.
ii. Check your background and blur it if possible (instruction below)
→ Join a Teams video meeting
→ Click on the three dots on the floating ribbon on the screen.
→ Select “Show background effects.”
→ Choose from the variety of backgrounds that will appear on the right side of your screen.
→ Click on “Preview” if you want to see what your screen will look like before anybody else does;
otherwise, click on “Apply.”
