III. CONCLUSION

The specific weight or unit weight, (ω), of a fluid is defined as the weight of the fluid per unit volume. In
the following experiments (illustrations) that were prearranged which includes tap water, oil and gasoline; I have
to get the specific gravity of these liquids using the direct measurement method. From the data gathered, the tap
water yields an average specific weight of 261745.0538 N/m3, then the oil produces an average specific weight of
416341.5905 N/m3 and the gasoline gives an average specific weight of 102122.1 N/m3. As the activity is not
based on actual experiment and are only based on given illustrations, the resulting data aren’t that factual but the
purpose of the activity is to learn how to acquire the specific weight of the liquids which is accomplish through it.
The importance of specific weight in civil engineering, it is used to determine the weight of a structure designed
to carry certain loads while remaining intact and remaining within limits regarding deformation.
