ACTIVITY TITLE: Case Analysis
CASE STORY TITLE: Natural Reserve Institute of Barangay Bayalse

Conflict Identification
Brgy. Bayalse is in a terrible situation in which the livelihood, shelter, economy, food, and health
care are all worsening. The main issues concerning their community are the widespread and
intermittent effects of global warming or climate change, which resulted in unexpected rain falls
and long periods of drought.
People in the community suffer from physical and economic problems. Flooding, landslides, and
drought are examples of physical impacts. Flooding is caused by heavy rains that usually last for
2-3 days. Drought is another impact of the main issues. Dry weather for months lead in
uncultivated farm fields.
In terms of economic impact, there were shortages in livelihood activities as well as undeliverable
goods and supplies. Their main source of income is affected. People are increasingly worried
about bad weather. Aside from that, the people are despondent. Due to recurring problems in
their area, people tend to be at loss on what steps or actions need to take to resolve the issue.
Plan of Action
As a youth, I plan to practice plant and trees preservation and help by the means of proper waste
disposal. Our environment would be polluted if there is no exchange of gases. Additionally, we
should raise concern about climate change and global warming because the poor would be the
most affected by disasters. They should coordinate community-wide environmental projects to
educate people how to protect the ecosystem and encourage conservation. Lastly, I will
participate in disaster risk management activities. Most significantly, the local government can
resolve the problem by establishing evacuation centers, emergency supplies, and medical
facilities near them.
Reflection
I realized that we cannot prevent a natural disaster from occurring; however, we may implement
effective measures to reduce the risk presented by the hazard. First, we must quit engaging in
unfair anthropological activities in our environment. People should be able to grow plants and
raise poultry in order to avoid experiencing shortages in the future. The community should
consider practical measures such as planting mangrove trees near the coast to reduce the effects
of storm surge and flooding. Furthermore, the community must be mindful of disaster readiness
and risk reduction so that they can be educated on safety precautions before, during, and after a
natural disaster.
