UNIT 1: Basic Concept

1.1Introduction
ISP is an acronym that stands for Internet Service Provider. An Internet Service Provider is
a company that provides Internet access to organizations and home users. ISP is a company
that provides individuals and other company’s access to the Internet and other
related services such as Web site building and virtual hosting. They also include thousands
of local providers. An ISP provides you with Internet access, usually for a fee. Without an
ISP, you wouldn’t be able to shop online, access Facebook, or read any online page.
Connecting to the Internet requires specific telecommunications, networking, and routing
equipment. ISPs allow users access to networks that contain the required equipment,
enabling users to establish Internet connectivity.
ISPs are responsible for making sure you can access the Internet, routing Internet traffic,
resolving domain names, and maintaining the network infrastructure that makes Internet
access possible. While the core function of an ISP is to provide Internet access.To be frank,
in Nepal, still no one providing GOOD internet service, just they are OK. Everyday and
week users are facing problems and problems. Some of the top internet service providers in
Nepal are Worldlink, Wimax, Clasictech, Vianet, Nepal telecome, Ncell, Subisu etc.
This report will define NCELL precisely so that a general idea can be set out about how
Ncell is providing internet service sto the customers.
1.2Ncell
A private owned GSM mobile operator in Nepal, Ncell Private Ltd. popularly known as
Ncell is the first private company to operate GSM services in Nepali telecommunication
sectors. It has been working in Nepal since 2004 as the first private mobile operator in the
country. It started with the brand name “Mero Mobile” which was later changed into Ncell
in 12 March 2010. Ncell is the largest ISP in Nepal as it has the suscriber base of more than
1.9 million users. It is the largest telecommunication company in Nepal. On April 12, 2016,
Ncell became part of Axiata Group Berhad. Axiata is one of Asia’s leading
telecommunications groups with operations in ten countries within the South East Asia and
South Asia region.

Ncell provides internet services through sim card and specially designed data modem. With
Ncell Internet, we can get the internet at the better price. It offers the packages like Internet
Packs, Video data, Facebook pack, Unlimited, and Internet Data Pack for Ncell Connect.
Video data can be used to enjoy YouTube, iflix, all Ncell video portals and other Google
services like GOOGLE Play, Maps etc. We can enjoy range of services with which we can
get access to the various services in in better price. With the Ncell Connect, we can enjoy
the fastest internet in Nepal in our computer, laptop or tablet anywhere with the available
internet packages.
 Ncell provides pocket wifi. It is a special sim card. We cannot make voice calls or send
SMS using the pocket Wifi SIM. We can use Ncell pocket Wifi in 4G network only. Ncell
4G is now available in more than 1000 palces of 7 provinces of Nepal. It has upgraded its
4G LTE networkin Kathmandu o make it the fastest internet in Nepal. Ncell has
successfully implemented the latest technology to upgrade the 4G spectrum
to 10 MHz. So, the Ncell 4G LTE speed has been enhanced significantly.
In the case of 4G LTE, the more the frequency spectrum, the higher will be
the data speeds. Previously, Ncell had operated 4G LTE in 5 MHz spectrum
only. Now after the implementation of new technology, Ncell operates 4G in
10 MHz spectrum.
With the upgrade, Ncell customers can get a maximum 4G download speed of around 70
Mbps. Apart from the peak data speeds, the average internet speeds per user have also
increased significantly. We can now get average download and upload speed of more than
10 Mbps each time. So, Ncell may announce 10 Mbps speed as the minimum speed of 4G
in their network.

Internet package and price: We can get the cheapest internet 7paisa/MB if we bought the
highest pack, for the normal pack it cost 40paisa/Mb. If we want the data it seems that it is
the cheapest data package internet provider. We can dial *17123# and buy an All-time pack.

How to activate mobile internet in Ncell?
 Type A in the message box and send the SMS to 900224.
 Dial 900 on your phone and follow the instructions.
 Dial *100# in your phone and follow the instructions.
Once the Internet is activated, type ALL in the message box and send it to 9595. You will
automatically receive the settings for your phone. Save the settings and enjoy the internet
over Ncell.
To set manually the mobile internet in your mobile you can follow the following steps.
 Go to Settings menu of your mobile.
 Move to internet/mobile data/cellular/web settings.
 Tap on Mobile Networks.
 Move to Access Point Name (APN).
 Add new Access Point.
 Name: Ncell.
 APN: Web.
 Save the setting.
 Activate the entire setting.
  The setting is over Turn on Data connection.

1.3 Problem Area

The project is conducted to explore the following problem areas:
a) The opportunities and threats possessed by the organization by using such online
payment methods.
b) The existing and probable security threats issue in such online payments.
c) Data services are not running smoothly.

1.4 Research Objective

Following are the objectives of our report:
a) To study the medium they used to provide networking.
b) To study different categories of online payment system used by Ncell.
c) To study their electronic marketing strategy.
d) To understand the strenght and weakness of Ncell.
1.5 Limitation of the study
Following are the limitations of our report:
a) We were unable to interview mangers of Ncell.
b) Some of the information was extracted from the website so that the data may not be
updated and acurrate.
 UNIT 2: Research design and Methodology
2.1Reserch Design
Research design is a conceptual, framework or structure within which research is conducted. It
constitutes blueprint for the collection, measurement and analysis of the data. It may be defined
as a systematic process that is adopted by the researcher in studying problems with certain
ojective in view. It describes the methods and process applied in the entire asprcts of the study
focus of the data gathering instrument and procedure, data tabulating and processing and method
of analysis.
The research design in this study is prescriptive than descriptive because the secondary data have
been mainly deployed for analysis for the analytical purpose. The secondary data includes the
data collected by someone other than researcher, information collected by organization and data
that was originally collected for other research purposes.

2.2Methodology
Methodology refers to a system of methods used in a particular area of study or activity in order
to find out things in a systematic way. For our research we followed 1 types of methodologies of
research i.e
 Internet based Research
We had also collected the data regarding the Ncell by visiting their official websites
https://www.ncell.axiata.com/ with the help of internet. From their official websites we came to
know about various internet facilities provided by Ncell. We also knew about the steps to be
followed while using various internet packs.

1) E-Sewa online payment portal:
eSewa is a mobile money account. It is a digital wallet from where customers can pay, send and
receive money from their mobile phone and internet, instantly. It is in operation since 2009 and
has recently been licensed by Nepal Rastra Bank as Payment Service Provider.
Customers can register and get mobile money account instantly, cash-in to their wallet from
Agents and partner banks and start making payments. Customers can pay for utilities, recharge
their mobile, pay internet bills, EMI, buy airlines ticket, school fees, credit card bills, etc. from
their mobile.
Similarly, merchants, service providers and retail outlets can receive payments for goods and
services in their wallet instantly. This enables hassle-free, secure and immediate payments from
customers.
To get started:
1. Login on your e-Sewa account or create e-Sewa account for free.
2. After successful log in, click Pay Utility Bills under Featured Services.
3. Click Ncell on the Tab.
4. Follow the instructions for successful payment.
2) E-Banking
Please visit the official website of the desired bank partnered with e-Sewa and make
payments by following the instructions there.
3) Mobile Banking

How can you get the monthly bill delivered?

You can get your monthly bill delivered through email, courier or online. You can mention it
while submitting the Pro contract.

Please note:
Monthly billing date – First of every month (Nepali calendar).
Bill payment due date – Bill should be paid within 24th of every Nepali calendar, numbers will
go to one way suspension on 25th of Nepali calendar if due is not paid.
Service suspension – All outgoing services will be discontinued if the bill is not paid within bill
payment due date. Lines will resume as soon as payment is made.

Online Recharge Service:

Ncell, the private telecom operator of Nepal, has started online recharge service. Ncell online
recharge can be done through debit and credit card of Visa, Master Card and Union pay. Through
a new portal, Ncell customers can recharge their prepaid balance or pay their bill of the postpaid
phone in Nepal.

Ncell started this recharge service to encourage people for digital service. The traditional
recharge or pay bill of their mobile can also be done through the online means using the recharge
card PIN. Although NTC has been providing this online recharge service for a long time, it is
only being done from their recharge card. But Ncell has this feature to recharge their mobile
from bank cards.

Steps to recharge Ncell mobile online or through bank card:

Here are the steps for Ncell recharge.

 To recharge Ncell mobile online, you either need to have a bank card (debit or credit)
from Master card or Visa or Union pay.
 Then Visit Ncell portal (https://payment.ncell.axiata.com/) or use Ncell official app.
 Enter the mobile number only and select the balance amount to top-up for recharge
through bank cards. OR directly input the mobile number and recharge PIN in case of
recharge through recharge card.
  After clicking next, you will be asked to put the card number and details. Then the
recharge will be done through the card. As they are using the TLS protocol, the data
communication is known to be secure.

Ncell is also encouraging their digital interaction with customers through online chat and social
media feedback/ comments. They are even entertaining people’s problem and feedback from
social media (Fb, Twitter) to solve the problem instantly.

Ncell has become a telecom brand at Nepal, the Product marketing strategy of Ncell is
aggressive than other telecom operators in Nepal.Recently Nepal Telecom has also announced
and offer different data schemes for customers.This shows the telecom marketing strategies are
