1. As a Filipino, how will you preserve the creation myth of the Philippines? How about as a
literature teacher? (10pts)

As a Filipino, preserving our culture and beliefs are very important especially in this 21 st
century and as a public teacher I will make sure that my students will never forget the
teachings of these creation myth as part of their values that they may use it in their daily
living. Providing them activities such as role playing and film making which promotes the
richness of our culture and beliefs.

2. What Filipino values can we get from the story "Si Malakas at Si Maganda"? (10pts)

The values that we can get from the story “Si Malakas at Si Maganda” is it reflects the
characteristics of Filipinos being strong and beautiful that whatever trials or
circumstances may come we are still moving forward to what lies ahead, also staying
positive and strong.

3. In The Origin, the Bagobos were thinking that the drought they experienced was God's
punishment to them, do you still believe that the natural disaster we experience is a form of God's
punishment to humans? Why or Why not? (10pts)

In Isaiah 45:7 “I form the light and create darkness, I bring prosperity and create disaster;
I, the Lord, do all these things.” My stand to this is not all disasters are created by God to
punished us but there are also man-made disasters that greatly affect the human lives.

4. How do Philippine Folk Songs influence our own history and culture? (10pts)

Philippine folk songs have a great influence in our own history and culture because through
these songs, we are greatly acknowledged not only in our own country but also
internationally. Our own folk songs too had greatly influenced our music in any way. By
this, we can look back to the culture which our ancestors inherited us.

5. What factors make certain riddle subjects more popular than others? (10pts)

It’s more popular than other subjects because it’s more challenging, fun and exciting. They
are used as conversation-starters or brain busters to get readers thinking. It also serves as
the competition of wits and skills and guessing game.

6. What are the significant values and learnings of proverbs in the realm of education? (10pts)

Proverbs connect to very deep psychological roots in human beings, meaning, in the realm
of education we need proverbs because they reflect of what and who we are as humans.
Proverbs are also known as the gems of wisdom; it often leaves a lesson or message that we
may use as our guiding principles.
7. Explain the following Filipino proverbs:
a. Mahirap gisingin ang nagtutulug-tulugan. (It’s difficult to wake up someone who is
pretending to be asleep.) 5pts

This proverb means that you cannot force someone to do something that they do not
want to do. Someone who is pretending to be asleep has similarly decided to opt out of
taking part in what is happening, although he/she is fully aware of what is really going
on.

b. Lahat ng gubat ay may ahas. (Every jungle has a snake.) 5pts

You should be aware of your surroundings, environment, workplace or the people


around you because they could betray you or they might have bad intentions.

c. Ang naglalakad nang matulin, pag natinik ay malalim. (A person who walks fast will have a
deeper wound when he is pricked.) 5pts

It merely talks about being prudent in making decisions. A person who makes decisions
easily tend to make bigger mistakes. Also, a person who works fast could make more
mistakes along the way.

d. Ang palay ay parisan, habang nagkakalaman ay lalong nagpugpugay. (Be like a rice stalk, the
more grains it bears, the lower it bows.) 5pts

It simply states that the more achievements you have, the humbler you should be. Same
with the Bible verse that says “God is opposed to the proud but gives grace to the
humble”.

e. Aanhin ang palasyo kung ang nakatira ay kuwago? (What good is a palace if only owls live in
it?) 5pts

It simply means of what is truly valuable in life, and that is relationships and family, not
money. What if you have great wealth but you don’t have the love and support from
your family and friends, your wealth is now useless.

8. Retell a part of the story based on the picture: (15pts)

Because of his kindness, Ang-ngalo extended his legs which reached the island where the
people waited. The men and women in the village together with their empty sacks and pails
climbed on his legs and walked toward the mountain of salt.
