15-16- Line Organization - The straight line
organization, often called the individual,
military or departmental type of
organization, is the simplest and perhaps the

Line and Staff organization is a combination
of the line and functional types.

represents the formal relationship among
superior and the subordinates in any given
organization.
16- Authority - Authority is the right to
command and control the behaviour of
employees in lower positions within an
organizational hierarchy
is the maximum number of subordinates at a

15-16 Delegation of Authority - Delegation
is the conferring of an amount of authority
by a superior onto a lower-level position.
15-16 Unity of Command - Traditional
theories of organization insisted that each
employee should have only one supervisor
or “boss” and considered this principle of
“unity of command” the backbone of any
organizational structure.
15-16 - Scalar Principle - shows the vertical
hierarchy of the organization which defines
an unbroken chain of units from top to
bottom describing explicitly the flow of
authority. The scalar principles are:

clandestine investigation which consists of
keeping persons, place or other targets under

investigation.

surveillance with includes only observations.
