Facebook Videos

First of all, while expressing about the Facebook videos and their appeal among university
students in Bangladesh, I want to talk briefly about the center point of the topic that I will tell a
short description about “Facebook Videos”. In this present era, almost all know about the really
famous social site Facebook. Facebook is a forum for social networks. It lets us relate to our
families, cousins, friends, and close ones. The most famous website for networking has been
Facebook. It was created by Harvard University student Mark Zuckerberg in 2004. It was used
as a university networking site at first, but now links people around the world. A Facebook user
can use his details to build a profile page. He/She will find his family, friends, and cousins with
the name, telephone number, school, college, or place of business. /her One can share with
friends his/her feelings, pictures, and images. We can send text messages and voice messages
and give your friends a voice or video call. The connection between Facebook Video and a
person’s friend is obvious, because of his/her goal as a marketer or small business owner to
increase the involvement in Facebook and the massive increase in video views on Facebook.
More than 4 billion videos are played daily on Facebook1 (40 Facebook Video Stats to Know in
2021 | 99firms, 2021). According to this Facebook report shared earlier this year, about 50
percent of Facebook users view at least one video every day2 (Harrison, 2015). This 50%
statistic is important–it hasn't been very relevant for Facebook video for long. I believe that it is
a reasonable guess that moving Facebook to automatically play videos would help Facebook
users in our media stream scroll down. Facebook provides different options for measuring the
success of posts, including:
● Interactions.
● Page views.
● Viewers.
Users can access many more exciting metrics by using video ads on Facebook. For instance, I
can monitor how much time my video is watched, how many users jump off or click "Play." It is
indeed a good way to learn more and gather useful knowledge from the audience. If users leap

back one or two seconds later, the content (video) should be polished by the user. We will use
the latest data to adjust and refine the whole strategy of our social networks. A Facebook video
view is described as a three or more seconds view3 (Gesenhues & Gesenhues, 2019). Facebook
videos are automatically played in the news and all views, even people that come to life as
people click through their social networks, are counted. The Facebook videos allow us to build
authority and make your message more personal. If you use video versus another form of
content, you would be far more likely to emotionally interact with your audience. In the first
few seconds, the video can be briefly used to catch the attention of the audience. The strength in
social media lies in one’s ability to condense information into easier digestible ingredients that
are long enough to retain the interest of audiences but short enough just to make them want
more.

Questionnaires and Answers

For explaining my viewpoint on this topic I took an interview with two of my friends. Shawon
and Sadia. Both of them are currently studying at North South University and they both will
graduate soon. I asked them many kinds of questions regarding my topic for demonstrating my
viewpoint.

So my first question was “What makes a Facebook video attractive to a user?”

Sadia answered that she believes Video still is the most important tool, especially on Facebook,
without face-to-face interaction. The medium's power is no mystery, and videos are used by
businesses that are earnest. She also added that videos on Facebook should be short and in that
short period of the moment that video needs to be attractive. In her opinion, the Facebook video
should not be more than two minutes.
In this question, Shawon replied that he thinks Facebook videos could be used as a purpose of
both entertainment and business. For this, he thinks the Facebook videos should be more
professional and enthusiastic. He thinks that there should be a proper implementation of the
editing process as well as a good proper thumbnail and it will be much attractive to the user and
will viral in a proper way.

My second question was, “What types of video content are appealing to a Facebook user?”
Sadia’s answer was “I personally like to watch videos like inspirational, music, or movie clips.
So I would also like that kind of videos should be suggested to me by Facebook.” She also
added that nowadays most of the viewer can be seen in unboxing videos, funny videos, or best
of videos. So she thinks that these kinds of video contents are appealing to a Facebook user.
Shawon replied that he personally likes to watch Facebook videos like sports moments,
aesthetic videos, vlogs, and many other things. He personally thinks that nowadays funny
videos, vlogs, make-up tutorials- these are the contents that appeal to users much especially to
the university students.
My third question was, “To what extent are Facebook videos social?”
Sadia thinks that I believe that Video still is the most important tool, without face-to-face
interaction. The medium's power is no mystery, and videos are used by businesses that are
earnest. Besides that, she also said that Facebook videos are normally published by people to
show them some message or the users’ objective. If it was not for Facebook videos maybe it
could be hard for us to connect with the customer or user for the objective purpose. So in that
case Facebook videos are much social.
Shawon’s answered almost the same thing. He thinks that Facebook videos are nowadays
getting very many views as YouTube does. It is improving the connection, the capacity of
marketing very much. Everyone can now create video content because of this and can be
connected to each other. So yes it is perhaps much social.
My fourth question was, “How do Facebook videos shape user’s cultural tastes and habits?”
I found almost the same answers from both of my friends on this question. Sadia thinks that
social networking encourages people to communicate openly and provides advertisers with
many opportunities to reach and interact with customers. Considering the many ways in which
Facebook videos influence people as well as companies. She also added that there are billions of
Facebook users from the world where they use Facebook in their native languages and that is
how Facebook videos shape users cultural taste and habits.
Shawon answered almost the same thing. He answered that Facebook is currently global.
Facebook likes to know it, users, by his/her preferences on everything that’s why Facebook
create their interface globally to attract the users. This is how Facebook videos shape users’
cultural tastes and habits.

My last question was, “To what extent can a user control the addiction to Facebook?”
I asked both of them one question adding to this one and it was “How much you guys are
addicted to Facebook?”
Sadia answered that personally, she is not that addicted to Facebook when she has things to do.
But in leisure, she likes to spend time on Facebook most of the time. She also added that she is
self-controlling herself nowadays to get rid of the addiction from Facebook. That is why she did
deactivate her account already. Besides that, she thinks that to get rid of serious addiction from
Facebook we should try to concentrate on other things. This is how a user can control the
addiction to Facebook.
Shawon answered that he uses Facebook on a daily basis but not that much which can affect his
mental/ physical health. In his opinion university, students should use Facebook for whatever
purpose they want to use it like educational/entertainment/business but that should have a limit
or else it could be degrading to the study life as well as the mental health of a university student.
He thinks that if someone is too addicted to Facebook he/she should delete the whole
application from the phone. This is how a user can control the addiction to Facebook in
Shaown’s opinion.

So from the interview, I found that Facebook videos are now so much popular among university
students in the context of Bangladesh. Often, Facebook video is more convincing than any other
ad source or image. In just a 30 second video we can tell a moving story, which we never could
do with a contextual perspective. Very kinds of video content are attractive to university
students. They do like to watch unboxing videos, movie clips, sports clips, different kinds of
funny videos, and many more. Many university students are now doing business on Facebook
through videos to advertise their product which means they are coming forward to the
professional point. Also, I found out that because of Facebook videos everyone is getting to
know everyone’s culture which is a very good way to become social with everyone. As
Facebook is global and it has so many users so usually it suggests all kinds of video contents of
all world to everyone more or less. So as a result people get to know about each other as well as
own and this how Facebook shape up users cultural tastes and habits. But this does not mean
that it brings only good. Facebook has negative effects too. Sleep loss, depression, and
dangerous conditions may result from Facebook. Facebook can be used in a fast way as an

intriguing and fun website. But overuse addictions can also have fatal consequences. It could be
dangerous for the students. In fact, students might feel deeper or lonely from this. So students
need to have control over the addiction on Facebook. For this the student may uninstall it from
their smartphones, they can temporarily block the site on PC. Theft needs to concentrate on
other things if it gets too much addictive because Facebook is after all not everything.

Conclusion
In the end, I can say that the way we connect and receive information is evolving continuously
in Facebook. Multiple social media platforms are used by the most popular content marketers. It
is not unusual that visual content is more than 40 times more likely to be shared by all content
on those platforms than by text (10 Reasons Why You Should Be Using Video in Your Social
Media, n.d.) 4. The videos are not any different too. It is becoming a growing part of advertising
artillery and big businesses considering it as their audience's most engaging contact medium. A
great tool to link audiences is Facebook Video5 (Facebook Video Ads: The Guide Marketers
Are Looking For, 2020). It is incredibly simple to consume, unlike a long-winded paragraph.
We are all responsible for passively browsing our social network feeds and only the most
persuasive content appears to make a difference. In the first few seconds, the video lets one
become clear and catch the imagination of the viewer. Facebook videos are consistently
successful in condensing details into easily digestible material fragments, which is long enough
to keep an eye on the audience but quick enough to keep him or herself interested. That is why it
is so much popular among the university students of Bangladesh.
