PROSPECTUS
Introduction
With the benevolence and blessings of Lord Sri
Venkateswara and the indomitable will and untiring efforts
of His Excellency Shri Rameshwar Thakur Ji the then
Governor of Andhra Pradesh, Sri Venkateswara Vedic
University was established in July, 2006, under the
sponsorship of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams. The
Cabinet of Andhra Pradesh in its meeting held on 7th July
2006, decided to establish Sri Venkateswara Vedic University,
and requested His Excellency Governor to promulgate the
ordinance providing for the establishment of the University.
On 12th July, 2006, His Exce- llency promulgated the
ordinance. Thus the University came into existence. The
ordinance was later replaced by the Act, 29/2006.

Objectives
 To preserve, foster and promote oral traditions of Vedic,
Agamic and cognate literature with focus on right
intonations.
 To conduct research and propagate the relevance of
knowledge system and the wisdom contained in the Vedic
literature for meeting the challenges of life in the
technology driven contemporary society.

 To bring out the profoundness of the rational approach and
the scientific temper presented in the Vedas in the context of
pursuit of knowledge and realization of higher levels of
consciousness.
 To consolidate, revive and promote the Vedic learning and
Sanskrit study as also to integrate the scientific thought
contained in the Vedas particularly in the disciplines of Mathe-
matics, Astronomy, Agriculture, Meteorology, Chemistry,
Metallurgy, Yoga, Humanities, Social Sciences and Manage-
ment with the modern Scientific and Technological studies, so
that through integration of Vedic and Scientific knowledge
can be facilitated.
 To bring out awareness about the authentic interpretation of
the Veda in India and abroad facilitating proper understanding
of richness of the rational approach to life and scientific temper
presented in the Vedic knowledge system.
 To create a network of Vedic, Sanskrit and other academic
institutions such as Rashtriya Sanskrit University, Tiruapti,
Maharshi Sandipani Veda Vidya Pratishthan, Ujjain with reci-
procal arrangement and facilities for interaction with a view to
fostering a synergy of efforts to propagate the Vedic wisdom
in the contemporary society.
 To publish all the Vedas and related texts, Bhashyas and
commentaries in all Indian languages.
 To create a body of literature in Modern Indian languages on
the contents of the Vedas.
 To translate and publish the Vedas and Bhashyas in all modern
Indian languages.
 To build up audio-visual records of Vedic Chanting and various
rituals.

 To prepare various kinds of tools, such as charts, diagrams
and pictures of various kinds of rituals as a measure of
preservation.
 To digitize and computerize the Vedas and develop required
software for various purposes.
 To organize seminars, conferences and Sastrartha Goshties
with a view to propagate Vedic knowledge in the society.
 Sri Venkateswara Vedic University commenced its academic
activity from 22nd July, 2006 with the starting of departments
in three faculties.
UGC Recognition
Sri Venkateswara Vedic University is the first University
statutorily established with unique features for promotion and
propagation of Vedic wisdom. The University Grants Commission
vide its notification No. F.9-4/ 2007(CPP-I), dated 10th July 2007
recognized Sri Venkateswara Vedic University under section 2(f)
of UGC Act 1956.

Location, Land and Construction


Sri Venkateswara Vedic University, the pearl nestled in the
oyster shell of the Seven Hills on the Alipiri – Chandragiri by-pass
Road is a serene and sanctified premises. Tirumala Tirupathi Deva-
sthanams allotted 300 acres of land near Alipiri, Tirupati for S.V.
Vedic University for construction of buildings.
The major part of construction work has been completed and
in this wake all the departments of the University including
Academic Centre and Administrative Buildings have become
functionary in place of pleasant landscape, which is replete with
heart attracting flora and fauna.

Saradadhama the cluster of the Academic Buildings include
Brahma Sadanam, Agama Nilayam, Grihya Sadanam and Vidya-
ranya Nilayam stand high in the lap of this picturesque environment.
RAMESWARAM named in honour of the revered Founder
Chancellor, is a majestic and impressive structure housing the stal-
warts of administration and the official machinery. The Annapurna
Sadanam a spacious dining hall adjacent to the students hostel
endears itself to one and all.

Note (I):
1. Candidates may enrole themselves as hosteliers or day scholars
for all Sastri (B.A.) Course.
2. The Candidates should submit all original certificates including
Date of birth at the time of admission/those who are having
Traditional knowledge and applying on that base for the course
should produce a certificate signed by the renouwned Guru. The
word “renowned Guru” refers to the pandit identified by T.T.D.,
Dept. of Endowments, Govt. of A.P., recipients of Award from
the President of India, Govt. of A.P., U.G.C., Mathams and
peetheams like Kanchi, Sringeri, jeeyar, pejawar etc., recipient
of Honouris cause from UGC recognized Universities.
3. The candidates who are working under Veda Parayana Scheme
of TTD may also apply for any veda related course offered by
S.V.Vedic University,duly following the admission proceedure .

Note (II): In Sastri final year all six papers are related to main
subject of the course concerned and Environmental Science paper
is extra paper. Detailed syllabus including examination pattern will
be supplied after the admission.
Medium of Instruction:
Main Subject and Sanskrit will be taught in Sanskrit Medium
only and Medium of examination will also be Sanskrit. Medium of
instruction and Examination for English will be English .

Mode of Examination:
For Computers there shall be a written examination for 50
Marks. Practical examination shall be for 50 Marks. For other all
subjects the Examinations shall be both written and oral.

Mode of Admission:
The University will conduct Entrance Examination for consi-
dering admission of eligible candidates. Candidates qualified in the
Entrance Examination only will be admitted into the course purely on
merit basis. The Entrance examination, will be for 100 Marks,
consisting of two parts:

Part-I (Main Subject) : Oral Test for 60 Marks dealing with the
main Subject concerned at the level of eligibility Prescribed for the
course.
Part-II (Ancillary Subject): Written test in Sanskrit for 30 marks
and written test in English for 10 marks to test the candidates acqua-
intance with the two languages.
Syllabus:
Sanskrit : Sadharana Sabdas including Sarvanama Sabdas, Dhatus
and a short essay of 5 sentences in Sanskrit. Objective type test except
the eassay (30 Marks written)
English : Basic sentence structure – Active and passive voice, tenses,
Positive - comparative superlative Degrees (10 Marks written-
objective type test ).

University, duly following the admission proceedure.

Scheme of Study:
There shall be Five papers in each year of the course. Each
paper carries 100 marks. All the papers deal with the main subject
concerned.
Note (II): The University has introduced CBCS (Choice Based
Credit System) from the academic year 2015-16. In this
Programme there are five papers in each year in which 5th paper
will be optional than main core (Hard core). Detailed syllabus
including examination pattern will be supplied to the students after
admission.
Medium of Instruction:
All the subjects in Acharya course deal with the main subjects
and the medium of instruction and examination will be Sanskrit only.
Mode of Examination:
All subjects the Examinations shall be both written and oral.
Mode of Admission:
The University will conduct Entrance Examination for consi-
dering admission of eligible candidates. The Entrance Examination
will be for 100 Marks, consisting of two parts:
Part-I (Main Subject) : Oral Test for 70 Marks dealing with the
main Subjects concerned in the level of eligibility prescribed for the
course.
Part-II (Ancillary Subject): Written test in Sanskrit for 30 Marks
SYLLABUS:
Sanskrit: Laghusiddhantakaumudi upto the end of Halsandhi praka-
rana and Raghuvamsa 1st canto. And a short essay of 5 sentences
in Sanskrit. Objective type test except the eassay (30 Marks-written)

considering admission of eligible candidates. Candidates qualified
in the Entrance Examination only will be admitted into the course
purely on merit basis. The Entrance examination will be for 100
marks.
Main subject:
Oral test for 100 marks dealing with the main subjects
concerned in the level of eligibility prescribed for the course.
(IV) P.G.Diploma:

PG Diploma in Vedanga Moolantha Adhyayana in any Veda
Scheme of Study:
There shall be Five papers in Vedanga. Each paper carries 100
marks. All the papers deal with the main subject concerned.
Mode of Examination:
All the subjects the examinations shall be in oral.

The University will conduct Entrance Examination for
considering admission of eligible candidates. Candidates qualified
in the Entrance Examination only will be admitted into the course
purely on merit basis. The Entrance examination will be for 100
marks.
Main subject:
Oral test for 100 marks dealing with the main subjects
concerned in the level of eligibility prescribed for the course.

Scheme of Study :
There shall be Five papers in Lakshnasastra of
krishnayajurveda . Each paper carries100 marks, all the
papers deal with the main subject concerned.
Mode of Examination:
All subjects the Examinations of first two papers
(1. Pratishakhya-Savyakhya, 2. Vyasasiksha-Savyakhya) shall be
in both written & oral(50+50), exam of another three papers shall
be oral only.

Mode of Admission
The University will conduct Entrance Examination for
considering admission of eligible candidates. Candidates qualified
in the Entrance Examination only will be admitted into the course
purely on merit basis. The Entrance examination will be for 100
marks.

3.PG Diploma in Vedanga Shodashasamskarantha
adhyananam or pourohitya in sastri
Scheme of Study:
There shall be Five papers related in Pourohitya. Each paper
carries 100 marks.
Mode of Examination:
All the subjects the examinations shall be in both written & oral.
Mode of Admission
The University will conduct Entrance Examination for
considering admission of eligible candidates. Candidates qualified
in the Entrance Examination only will be admitted into the course
purely on merit basis. The Entrance examination will be for 100
marks.

(V) VIDYAVARIDHI (Ph.D.)
Sri Venkateswara Vedic University, Tirupati will award the degree
of Vidyavaridhi to the students, after admission and succussful
completion of their research work duly evaluated by the examiners
appointed by the University for this purpose as per the rules of Uni-
versity. The Sanskrit version of the degree will bear the name
Vidyavaridhi and the corresponding English version of the degree
will be DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHY.
Elibibility:
A candidate possessing Acharya (P.G.) level educational quali-
fication from a recognized University/Institution with 55% of Marks
in any subject in which the courses are offered by S.V.Vedic
University is eligible to seek admission into Vidyavaridhi course.
Normally, a student will be eligible to pursue his research in the
field which he has passed Acharya level examination . In special
circumstances, the candidates can be allowed to work in allied subjects
with reference to the field of his specialization at the Acharya level
examination.

The procedure of admission, fee details about Vidyavaridhi,
applications forms & regulations etc. are available in the University
website: www.svvedicuniversity.ac.in
Incomplete applications or those received after the due date will
be rejected. The University will not be held responsible for any postal
delays. The last date for receiving the filled in application form along
with necessary certificates for Ph.D Courses academic year
2021-22.

Vidyavaradhi Entrance Test
Note: Date of Entrance test will be annouced on the University
website and also informed to the eligible students via email
The Entrance Test for admission to Vidyavaridhi course will be
conducted separately by the University. The following areas may be
covered in entrance test for (200 Marks) (1) Vedic Literature (2)
Research Methodology.
Common Admission Rules
The candidates seeking admission should send the application in
the prescribed form duly filling the same by the applicant’s own
hand writing and signature.
The declaration must be signed by the candidate as well as by the
parent or guardian. The candidates must enclose duly attested xerox
copies of the following certificates to the application, failing which
the application will be rejected.
1. Provisional / Original Pass Certificates of the last qualifying exa-
mination.
2. Marks obtained in each examination right from Metriculation/
SSC / SSLC to the last qualifiying examination.
3. Transfer Certificate
4. Date of Birth Certificate. (Certified by the Municipal Corporation/
Village Panchayat)
5. Study Certificate.
6. Conduct Certificate.
Incomplete applications or those received after the due date will
be rejected. The University will not be held responsible for any postal
delays. The last date for receiving the filled in application form along
with necessary certificates for Sastri and Acharya Courses for the
academic year 2020-21 is 30.08.2021 by 5.00 P.M.
Student will be admitted into the University in accordance with
the rules governing eligibility, merit, good conduct etc., as determined
by the University as per the rules existing on the date of actual admission
after interview.

The candidates must attend in person and produce the original
documents listed above at the time of interview to be conducted
on a specified date and time, failing which they will not be considered
for admission. Admission will be confirmed after interview and /
or the Entrance Examination. If the admission is offered, he shall join
the course with in the stipulated date, failing which he will forfeit the
seat.
No student will be permitted to appear for any other University
examination during the period of study in the University. Students
will not be allowed to change the Course/Subject after the admission
even if seats are vacant in a particular course. The name of the
student will be struck off from the rolls or he may be expelled, if he
participates in political, illegal, antinational activities, strikes etc. The
candidates should submit two copies of recent passport size
photographs duly attested by a Gazetted Officer at the time of
admission. All the Original Certificates have to be deposited
with the office at the time of admission, and these certificates
will not be returned in the middle of the course. No request for
copies of such certificates shall be entertained during the course.The
University reserves the right to run the course or not to run the course
during the year keeping in view the applications received for a
particular course.

The amount, along with interest, will be paid to the students
admitted into Sastri/Acharya courses after their successful
completion of Acharya course. Day scholars & part time Scholars
are not eligible for the incentives.
Facilities to the Students
1. FREE boarding, Accommodation, Text books, Note books,
Clothes,Oils, Soaps etc., will be provided to the students admitted
into traditional courses offered by the University.

2. No fee is collected from the students admitted into traditional


courses other than Ph.d.
3. Apart from prominent periodicals and Research Journals, the
University Library has more than 18677 titles in different branches
of Vedic learning for the use of students and faculty members.
The authorities intend to develop the University library as a world
class library in the near future.
4. Free Medical care is provided to the hosteliers for simple treat-
ments.
Code of Conduct
The following rules and regulations must be strictly followed by
the students of the University.
1. Each and every student must be self-disciplined while attending
the classes.
2. Any student, disturbing class-room atmosphere or causing incon-
venience in any form to the teachers or to the students, shall be sent
out from class room by the Teacher and “absent” shall be marked.
3. Any student found causing damage to the property of University
will be liable to disciplinary action. Besides, the repair/replace-
ment charges of the damaged property will be recovered from
the student/parent/guardian.

4. All kinds of correspondence with University by the students should
be addressed to the Registrar through their Heads of the
Depart- ment concerne
5. Students should invariably wear the traditional dress Dhothi ,
Upper Cloth & Sikha as prescribed by the authorities and the
dress should be neat and clean.
6. They should invariably observe time honoured traditional customs
and daily rituals as prescribed by the tradition and directed by their
Teachers/Authorities.
7. Students are strictly forbidden from taking part in any activity
prejudical to the University.
8. Students are expected to uphold the prestige of the University and
therefore they are strictly prohibited from participating in any activity
that would ok the reputation of the University.
9. Any student if found guilty of criticizing the conduct of the
University any where is liable to be punished.
10. The Students shall not take part in any political meetings /
activities which are likely to create unrest in the campus.
11. The use of mobile phones in the University by the students is
strictly prohibited. The cell phone if found with the students will be
taken by the University and will be handed over to the parents /
guardian after receiving suitable explanation.
12. Consistent “Sadachara” is elementary cash to give incentive to
the traditional students .
13. Students who are found guilty of any act of indiscipline and those
who resort to agitations will be expelled from the University.
14. All students should attend the classes regularly and promptly
without fail.
15. Students indulging in unlawful, immoral activities etc., shall be
punished.
16. Every student will be issued an identity card soon after admission
and has to carry with and to produce to the authorities on demand;
any loss of identitycard should be reported immediately to the
University authorities.
17. Ragging in any form is strictly prohibited. If any incident of ragging
comes to the notice of the authority, the concerned student shall be
given liberty to explain and if his explanation is not found
satisfactory, the authority will take necessary disciplinary action
including expulsion.

18. The Registrar is empowered to impose the following punishments
on the students in the best interest of the students and the institution.
(a) Levy of penalty or marking absent in the attendance register
or both.
(b) Stoppage of issue of certificates.
(c) Suspension / expulsion from the institution
(d) Any other action which the authorities may deem fit in the
circumstances of the case.

Attendance Rules:
1. The teacher taking any class - regular or extra - shall mark
attendance for the students present.
2. If any student fails to attend even one period in any session he will
be treated absent for that session.
3. All working days of the college will be reckoned for ascertaining
the percentage of attendance. Abstaining by the students for
whatever reason, shall not affect in anyway the calculation of
the total working days.
4. Students taking part in extra-curricular activities approved by
the institution shall be given attendance even if they are absent
for any period or days subject to the following conditions:
(a) Prior intimation in writing by the student to the Head of the
Department concerned stating the type of activity he is going
to take part in and that the absence is warranted for attending
such activity.
(b) Within one week of attending college after such absence, a
certificate in writing signed by the Dept. Head concerned
with the details of activity and countersigned by the Registrar
condoning such absence, must be obtained.
5. Approved extracurricular activities including activities like
participation in sports, training for such competitions, partici- pation
in any literary and clutrual programmes of any association and
such other programmes approved by the University.
6. The student should normally posssess 75% of attendance to
get eligibility to appear for the examinatin. Condonation of atten-
dance on grounds of sickness will be entertained only for the
illness exceeding one week and subject to production of a valid
medical certificate to that effect within one week of attending
the college after such illness countersigned by the Medical Officer
approved by the University. Deviation in this will not qualify for
condonation of attendance.
