Buildings or structures that are not provided with the required fire-resistive or
fire protective construction normally leads to unclassified level of fire safety that if
fire may happen, it is hard to identify the fire preventive measures to take to ensure
the safety of the building/structure as well as the people occupying it.

c. IDENTIFY the STANDARD MESUREMENTS or other means of exit is not of sufficient width
or size, or is not so arranged as to provide safe and adequate means of exit in case of fire
and panic: (10 pts.)
 Exit Door - width at least 0.8m not exceed 1.23m and height is 2.30m
 Aisle or passageway or hallway - 44 inches wide

 Stairway - width fire escape staircase not less than 0.75m, width of fire escape
stair thread not less than 15cm, height of fire escape stair riser not exceed 19cm,
number of risers not exceed 16/flight of stairs, height of handrails not less than 1m.

d. EXPLAIN, Whenever any building/structure, because of obsolescence, dilapidated condition,


deterioration, damaged, inadequate exits, lack of sufficient fire-resistive construction,
hazardous electric wiring, gas connections or heating apparatus, or other cause, in violation of
the Fire Code of the Philippines (PD 1185). (10 pts)

Buildings/structures that has unstable condition and lacks of safety preventive


measures for any kind of risks are always unsafe and dangerous to be occupying because
of its potential to cause harm and serious damage to people occupying it that is why these
buildings or structures should always be subjected to maintenance and repair to ensure
the safety of everyone.

12. SECTION 4: GENERAL BUILDING REQUIREMENTS

a. EXPLAIN, Buildings and other structures as well as all accessory facilities, shall be
aesthetically, functionally and structurally designed to completely and efficiently serve its
purpose while protecting life, health, property and general public welfare and concomitant
resource of civic pride and aspirations. (10 pts.)

Buildings and structures should not be only structurally stable but also it has to be
aesthetically good for people. Some designs are meant for convenience and pleasing the
mental health of people for relieving stress.

b. EXPLAIN, Buildings and other structures intended to be used for the manufacture and
production of any kind of article or product shall comply with adequate environmental
safeguards as provided by all government agencies concerned. (10 pts)

To avoid any harmful hazards, all buildings and structures intended to be used for
manufacture and production for any kind of product must comply with the maximum
safeguard to prevent any unwanted events to happen from its workers and it should
comply with the sanitary requirements to ensure the health of the workers and also the
consumers of the product or article that is being manufacture on that structure.

c. EXPLAIN, Buildings and structures together with all parts thereof as well as their adjunct
facilities, utilities and equipment therein shall be maintained in good repair, safe, sanitary, and
good working condition as originally approved for occupancy. (10 pts)

For workers to be able to work efficiently and ensure safety to any working
condition, the buildings/structures should be sanitized and be maintained in good
shape to free them from any harmful health related hazards and any physical related
injuries.

13. EXPLAIN THE GIVEN FIGURE (10 pts)

The horizontal exit is an exit that allows occupants to egress from one side of a building to
another side through a fire-resistance-rated assembly, such as a fire wall or a fire barrier and this wall
beside the horizontal exit is a 2 hour fire resistive wall that prevents fire from entering the other side of
the building to easily mitigate fire from spreading.
