Responsive Call to Worship (Psalm 150):
Leader: Praise the Lord.
People: Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in his mighty heavens.
Leader: Praise him for his acts of power; praise him for his surpassing greatness.
People: Praise him with the sounding of the trumpet, praise him with the organ and piano,
Leader: Praise him with drums and dancing, praise him with celebration and joy.
People: Let everything with breath and voice praise the Lord.
Praising God Together 2: God of Grace and God of Glory
1: Let It Rise God of grace and God of glory, On Thy people pour Thy power;
Let the glory of the Lord Rise among us; Crown Thine ancient church's story; Bring its bud to glorious flower.
Let the glory of the Lord Rise among us; Grant us wisdom, grant us courage, For the facing of this hour,
Let the praises of the King Rise among us, For the facing of this hour.
Let it rise.
Lo! the hosts of evil round us Scorn Thy Christ, assail Thy ways!
Let the songs of the Lord Rise among us; From the fears that long have bound us Free our hearts to faith and praise.
Let the songs of the Lord Rise among us; Grant us wisdom, grant us courage, For the living of these days,
Let the joy of the King Rise among us, For the living of these days.
Let it rise.
Cure Thy children's warring madness, Bend our pride to Thy control;
Oh, let it rise. Oh, let it rise. Shame our wanton, selfish gladness, Rich in things and poor in soul.

Lest we miss Thy kingdom's goal.

Set our feet on lofty places; Gird our lives that they may be
Armored with all Christ-like graces, Pledged to set all captives free.
Grant us wisdom, grant us courage, That we fail not them nor Thee!
That we fail not them nor Thee!
3: Love Lifted Me
I was sinking deep in sin, Far from the peaceful shore, Very deeply stained within, Sinking to rise no more;
But the Master of the sea Heard my despairing cry, From the waters lifted me; Now safe am I.

Chorus
Love lifted me! Love lifted me!
When nothing else could help, Love lifted me!
(Repeat)

All my heart to Him I give, Ever to Him I'll cling, In His blessed presence live, Ever His praises sing;
Love so mighty and so true Merits my soul's best songs; Faithful loving service, too, To Him belongs.
Chorus
I was a mess, lost in my sin, Your love has lifted me from the pit.
Thank You, God, Your love has lifted me. Not by my strength, but by Your Grace
Sin's not my master any more. Hallelujah, Your love has lifted me
(Repeat)

Souls in danger, look above, Jesus completely saves;

He will lift you by His love Out of the angry waves;
He's the Master of the sea, Billows His will obey;
He your Savior wants to be; Be saved today.

Love lifted me! Love lifted me! When nothing else could help, Love lifted me!
Love lifted me! Love lifted me! When I thought my sin was too much,
When I say I’m not good enough When I think it won’t be restored
Jesus will lift me!

When nothing else could help, Love lifted me!

Unison and Silent Prayers of Confession

God of salvation, in Christ you have done great things. By your power you lifted us out of the wasteland of sin and
brought us with joy and laughter into your kingdom. Salvation is your gift to us. But we still try to replace your gift
with our own efforts. We try to complete what is already perfect; we try to add to what is already full; we try to earn
what we already have. Forgive us for our foolishness. Help us to focus on your grace. Help us to live grateful and
gracious lives in response.

Message: Unavoidable Divisions (Luke 12:49-52)

Pastor Malcolm Davis

Prayer of Thanksgiving and the Lord’s Prayer

Closing Song: Trading My Sorrows

I'm trading my sorrows, I'm trading my shame.
I'm laying them down For the joy of the Lord.
I'm trading my sickness, I'm trading my pain.
I'm laying them down For the joy of the Lord.

Chorus
Yes Lord yes Lord yes yes Lord
Yes Lord, yes Lord, yes, yes Lord.
Yes Lord, yes Lord, yes, yes Lord, Amen!

I am pressed but not crushed Persecuted not abandoned,

Struck down but not destroyed. I am blessed beyond the curse
For His promise will endure That His joy's gonna be my strength.
Though the sorrow may last for the night His joy comes with the morning.
