#Solution Factory: Teams closely with engineering, business group, and Global delivery to create
solutions accelerators in support of the Data Insights solutions road map.
•Designs and assembles robust and scalable Data Insights solutions (BigData/Business
Analytics/Business Intelligence)
•Creates and leads architecture design, evaluate and assess technologies, define approach for
engineering of productized solution accelerators, and enable industrialized delivery
•Leads the creation of proof-of-concept pilots and the development of prototypes to prove solutions,
technologies and business process interactions.
•Drives the design of user interaction models, workflows and user interfaces, if applicable.
•Explores and develops new solutions in collaboration with research and product groups to support new
analytics initiatives.
•Contributes customer and market feedback, lessons learned and IP to continuously improve the solution

#Customer-facing Pre-Sales Engagements: Teams closely with Platform sales specialists and Services
sales during opportunity discovery. Contribute to win sales pursuits focused on Data Insights solutions,
leveraging solution accelerators as entry points. Delivers envisioning workshops, designs and develops
proof-of-concept prototypes and assists in the development of production pilots.
•Leading initial client engagements, starting with BDM-focused solution envisioning.
•Selecting technology based upon business vision, designing solution architecture design, designing and
developing POC application, guiding pilot solution development, testing, and deployment.
•Architect and develop conceptual, logical and physical data models for business analytics and decision
management solutions.
•Architect and develop the ETL components to populate Business Analytics databases from various
source systems.
•Architect and develop analytics sandbox databases to support statistical analysis, modeling, data mining,
and machine learning,

The Solutions Architect in the Data Insights CoE is involved in risk management for the practice as well
as in the entire solution lifecycle but is most critical during solution assembly, sales support, discovery
and design phases, with a strong focus on Data Insights solutions for Customer Analytics, Human Capital
Management, Operational Performance Management. Duties include:
•Solution assembly: Demonstrates thought leadership and contributes to solution engineering and
assembly, drives IP development and reuse initiatives. Leads the development of solution accelerators.
•Solution fulfillment: Collaborates with platform sales and services sales teams during pre-sales of
solution accelerators. Demonstrates and drives valuable customer partner interactions, including
customer engagements that require architectural governance. Provides customer guidance during
solution sales cycle to architect team members.
•Engagement management: Assists field engagement managers by ensuring proper business justification
for solution accelerators is demonstrated to customers, and supports creation of statements of work.
•Business development: Brings their years of experience and expertise to bear on local business
development opportunities and opportunity discovery. Contributes to thought leadership within and across
both their local Microsoft business and more broadly across other Microsoft businesses.
•Leadership: Communicates vision, business direction, & workgroup commitments. Plays a vital part in
business strategy by providing internal practice management risk assessment. Contributes to
organizational change management for accelerating adoption of solution sales and industrialized solution
delivery capabilities

•Knowledge of cloud computing infrastructure (e.g. Amazon Web Services EC2, Elastic MapReduce) and
considerations for scalable, distributed systems
•Data migration from existing data stores
•Ability to learn and apply new technologies and programming languages as required

Travel, of approximately 50%, is an integral expectation of this position as the needs of our customers
and our business demand. This position location is flexible.
