GED101_FOPM02_1Q2122 Mr. Alvin Avelino

1.

a.) Before I read the article, I used to think that Self, Self-concept, and Identity had the same meaning
and understanding but different in context because of their different factors and different
characteristics. After I read the article, I now think that the topic of Self, self-concept, and Identity is very
complex and also a serious topic for all of us. It made me realize that the definition of understanding
ourselves is very deep and meaningful.

b.) The article made me rethink of my own personal choices and actions that I do every single day, If I
influence people in a good way, do I make a difference in every action that I do and even the smallest
detail about ourselves is very important.

c.) The self, self-concept and Identity has its own way of understanding depending on the context. The
examples in the article are the best ones to describe each other’s difference or even the cores of each
section mentioned in the article.

2.

a.) The self has its own meaning, its own examples and its own understanding. What I don’t understand
about the topic is that, how did the writers, philosophers, and even scientists gave a different
perspective for all of us. Did it all really matter?

b.) Self-concept is the topic that I studied way back my high school days, and up until now the word self-
concept confuses me when things get deeper and complex. I tried to understand every detail in the
article but there is something missing that I feel that I need to know about self-concept even though
some parts of the article are clear and understandable.

c.) Sometimes, our identities are defined connecting to our self and connecting to our self-concept. In
this article, Identity was given a good explanation with examples and a complex meaning. What is the
reason why our identities are being judged as the definition of our self and self-concept, especially in
our experience.

3.

a.) Since the “self” itself is a very complex topic, how did it end up so deep and meaningful, why does
this topic matter in ourselves and the community and how is that the topic about ourselves is something
that not everyone gives interests at depending on its context and meaning?

b.) Why does the self-concept always being interchanged by the definition of “Self”? It is true that the
definition of the self-concept is like 80% true in a mathematical sense, but self-concept has its own
meaning and definition as how I read it in the article but there is still a confusion about it, why?

c.) What is going to happen if people are not really curious or careful about understanding their own
self, self-concept and identity? Would it automatically make their actions and decisions wrong or
unclear?
