The Coca-Cola Company

The Coca-Cola Company is the world's largest soft drink manufacturer and over 1.3
billion servings every day. Coca-Cola began in 1886, when Atlanta pharmacist Dr. John
Pemberton introduced Coca-Cola syrup into fountain drinks. It was in 1899, when two
Chattanooga businessmen Benjamin F. Thomas and Joseph B. Whitehead, they
secured exclusive rights to bottle Coca-Cola from the Coca-Cola Company to sell
throughout the United States and spread it to the other country.
One of the most recognizable trademarks in the world is Coca-Cola's red and white
logo. The Coca-Cola Company currently has headquarters in Atlanta and produces four
of the five top-selling soft drinks in the world, including the most popular Coca-Cola and
Diet Coke, Fanta, and Sprite. It also operates one of the world's most extensive
distribution networks, with nearly 400 beverage products available in more than 200
countries worldwide.
Although Coca-Cola was invented in the United States, it quickly became popular
wherever it went. As early as 1906, we opened international bottling plants in Canada,
Cuba, and Panama, and soon followed by many countries. Our company earns more
than 70 percent of its revenue outside of the U.S., but the real reason we are a truly
global company is the fact that our products match the various consumer tastes around
the world.
The Coca-Cola Company has a more than 225 independent bottling partners and
employ more than 700,000 people in more than 200 countries, bringing economic
opportunity to many communities. With the power of this unique system, we can reach a
global audience with a local focus. Despite the common perception that we are "Coca-
Cola," our system operates through multiple distribution channels, and our bottling
partners work closely with our customers to design localized strategies that are tailored
to their needs.
