Over the years, there have been several ideas and developments in the area of

management which are planning, organizing, leading, and controlling. Planning is the first
and the most essential of the four functions of an organization's management process.
In Every organization, the planning process is the one that determines whether you as an
engineer manager are successful or not. Good managers utilize a planning process to
prepare for expectations and provide measurements to anticipate problems to attain their
goals. Overall, planning in an organization gives you a sense of direction and purpose.
The second function of management is organizing. Organizing tells us how and who should
accomplish it. It means that organizing is responsible for ensuring people who are capable of
contributing systematically to the organization's goal. Every organization usually contributed
by establishing organizational charts. Those charts show the organization's plan that can be
discussed with the subordinates and divide all of the responsibilities that might be handled

by a single person. As a result, the organization will have a well-organized and accomplished
goal.
The third function of management is staffing. Staffing is the one who manages in finding the
most suitable employee. It means to ensure that all employees will perform their tasks
without fail. Staffing improved productivity and can build morale in the organization by
evaluating and rewarding them for their performances. They can be rewarded by giving
them project bonuses or any discounts and assistance that benefits them. Overall, staffing
also brings peace and unity that brings the organization into success.
The fourth function of management is leading/directing. Leading/directing is the manager's
direction on how to deal with and motivate their subordinates. It means to assist managers
in supervising the behavior of their employees and make a pathway to achieving success. To
be a leader, you should have the ability to lead. It should have leadership skills such as
honesty, confidence, responsibility, good communication, and knowledge in every aspect of
the business.
The fifth and last function of management is controlling. Controlling talks about the
evaluation and outline of all actions within the organization. It means to ensure employees'
responsibility to take action and finish their tasks within the exact given date. In every
organization, managers should monitor their subordinates and their departments to ensure
productivity and efficiency.

E. CONCLUSION
Being a leader isn't simple like going out with friends and having fun. Leading a team
must provide various methods of work, personalities, and technical skills. Management
functions are essential skills that any manager needs to supervise and communicate with
their teams. As a good manager, you should have the right insight into your fellow
teammates on how you observe them and judge them. Also, how you can use their abilities
for the good of the organization. An organization should maintain these functions of
management to assist managers in carrying out their duties inefficiently. Without these
functions, your organization will experience failure, poor performance, and most of all it will
affect productivity.
