COOPERATING TEACHER: Mr. Drazen Sumague
DATE STARTED: April 08, 2019
DATE ENDED: May 11, 2019
VENUE: Laguna State Polytechnic University San Pablo City Campus

I. Introduction
I, a 4th year BSEd Major in Biological Science are required to have five local
demonstrations in Senior High Students section TVL 1B handled by Sir Drazen
Sumague, a 22 years old Science teacher at LSPU-SPCC. After revealing who would be
our mentor is, I felt overwhelmed that is because Sir Sumague is one of the marvellous
teacher in LSPU and for the fact that he is my mentor, he is a very considerate person and
approachable in all of his students.

With the help of Sir Drazen, I know that I will grow a lot from his words of
wisdom up to delivering lessons from thinking different teaching techniques inside the
classroom.
1ST DAY LOCAL DEMONSTRATION
DATE: April 15, 2019
TIME: 01:00 pm
SUBJECT: Science
TOPIC: Intermolecular Forces of Attraction
SECTION: TVL 1B
ADVISER: Mr. Drazen Sumague
ST: Heizel P. Gatdula

I. RATIONALE
Just like other local demonstrations I have held in my first On-the-job training
(OJT) at Alaminos National High School, it also started with a 3 minutes video prayer
with the students, greet my students a good afternoon and checked their attendance if
there were absentees that day. Before moving on to the next topic which I supposed to
discuss, I asked them about their past lesson and what are the things they have learned on
their previous topic. I prepared an ice breaker which was related to the next topic which
was Intermolecular Forces of Attraction entitled “BOND WITH ME” wherein I grouped
the 19 students into 3 groups, it was supposedly 27 students but some of them were
absent or excused. I told them to imagined themselves as electrons because they will
enjoy the game better if they do that, the mechanics of the game were as follows; (1)
Move the chairs at each side of the classroom. (2) Group the students into three groups
and the teacher will assign them their respective areas. (3) The teacher will provide each
group a 1/2 manila paper for them to use in the game. (4) As the teacher's signal, each
group will fold their manila paper. (5) The teacher will count 1 to 3 for the students to
give them time to prepare themselves and say “FREEZE”. (6) The game will continue
until one group will remain with the highest number of members. 6 members in each
group and I made the left student as my assistant. Luckily, the 2 nd group won and gave
them extra points that would help them to scored higher in their upcoming quiz after I
executed the lesson.

II. INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS

I used Physical Science For Senior High School Book given by Sir Drazen before
we begin our local demonstration for guidelines and lectures, the authors were Joel E.
Unday, Nenita D. Makalintal and Mylene G. Dinglasan. 3 used manila papers for the ice
breaker, 3 blue cartolina papers for the activity of the students, 3 pentel pens, tapes, 1
white board marker, white board eraser, evaluation sheets, laptop and projector for
powerpoint presentation, and extension chord.

III. ACTIVITIES UNDERTAKEN

After the motivation, I discussed some of the key words about the three common
intermolecular forces of attraction which were; (1) Dipole - dipole forces, (2) Hydrogen
bonds, and (3) Instantaneous dipole-induced dipole forces. Afterwards, with the same
group I gave them different tasks for group 1 was Dipole-diople forces wherein they will
give some examples of it and discuss it in front of their classmates, the next groups will
also do the same atleast 2 members of each group will report their answers, for group 2
was Hydrogen bonding, and lastly for group 3 was Instantaneous dipole-induced dipole
forces.

IV. PROBLEMS ENCOUNTERED

In terms of discussion, there were some parts wherein the students did not easily
get or comprehend the part that I am discussing because it was their first time tackling the
topic that is why the fixed 1 hour discussion did not achieve. For them to understand the
lesson, I gave them plenty of examples in each forces and after that I executed evaluation
to know if my teaching instruction was very effective.

V. LESSONS LEARNED
As a future teacher, it is very important for us to know if the students learned
from your lectures and I have observed that teachers if possible or if they have plenty of
time should not move on to another lecture if the students were confused on the current
topic. If your discussion was not enough, give some examples or call some students or
volunteers to answer your question on the board on hand, add some educational pictures
or videos related to your topic so in that case even though you executed another lesson
they would have some references to deal with or study with themselves.

2nd DAY LOCAL DEMONSTRATION

DATE: April 18, 2019
TIME: 01:00 pm
SUBJECT: Science
TOPIC: Application of Intermolecular Forces of Attraction
SECTION: TVL 1B
ADVISER: Mr. Drazen Sumague
ST: Heizel P. Gatdula

I. RATIONALE
The 2nd day of my local demonstration in section of TVL 1B was not as nervous
as I am in my 1st day with them, there were improvement because I now knew some of
them. Just like my first local demonstration with them, it also started with a 3 minutes
video prayer with the students, greet my students a good afternoon because afternoon was
my schedule with them and checked their attendance if there were absentees that day.
Before moving on to the next topic which I supposed to discuss but is connected with
Intermolecular Foces of Attraction, I asked them about the things they have learned on
our last meeting. I prepared an ice breaker which was related to the next topic which was
Application of Intermolecular Forces of Attraction entitled “PICTURE ME OUT”
wherein I grouped the 27 students again into 3 groups, luckily no one was absent. 9
members for each group, I told them to assigned one leader to manipulate and look out
the group so that the group will not misbehave because they will not enjoy the game if
they do that, the mechanics of the game were as follows; (1) Move the chairs at each side
of the classroom. (2) Group the students into three groups and the teacher will assign
them their respective areas. (3) The teacher will show them pictures from the powerpoint
presentation and guess it. (4) The group with the highest number of points would be the
winner. Again, the 2nd group won and gave them extra points that would help them to
scored higher in their upcoming quiz after I executed the lesson.

II. INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS

I used Physical Science For Senior High School Book given by Sir Drazen before
we begin our local demonstration for guidelines and lectures, the authors were Joel E.
Unday, Nenita D. Makalintal and Mylene G. Dinglasan, printed pictures, 3 pentel pens, 1
white board marker, white papers, white board eraser, tapes, evaluation sheets, laptop and
projector for powerpoint presentation, and extension chord.

III. ACTIVITIES UNDERTAKEN

Right after the motivation, I shared some informations about the application of
intermolecular forces of attraction which were; (1) Medical Implants and, (2) Sports
equipments. Individually, I gave them different tasks wherein they will research about
the said applications and the informations they have searched will discuss in front of their
classmates. The unsaid informations were discussed by me.
IV. PROBLEMS ENCOUNTERED
There were only some problems in terms of the informations they have searched
few of their resources were not valid.

V. LESSONS LEARNED
When it comes to the informations gathered by the students, it is important to tell
them if the resources they have cited was valid because some of the websites were not as
reliable as other websites and as a teacher you are responsible to correct their mistakes so
they will not do it again.

3rd DAY LOCAL DEMONSTRATION

DATE: April 22, 2019
TIME: 01:00 pm
SUBJECT: Science
TOPIC: Biological Macromolecules
SECTION: TVL 1B
ADVISER: Mr. Drazen Sumague
ST: Heizel P. Gatdula

I. RATIONALE
It was a new topic for my 3 rd local demonstration teaching, I can see that my
improvement in teaching was evident because majority of my students did pass in my
evaluation last meeting in my last topic which was “Forces of Attraction and their
application”. Just like my 1st and 2nd local demonstrations with them, nothing changed
except with the activities and evaluations prepared, it also started with a 3 minutes video
prayer with the students, greet my students a good afternoon because afternoon was my
schedule with them and checked their attendance if there were absentees that day. The
next thing happened was the recalling of what they have learned on the previous topic to
know if I could move on to the next topic which was “Biological Macromolecules”. I
prepared a game which was entitled “FOOD PLATING” wherein I will call some
volunteers to place the foods I provided in the food plate posted on the board. In that
case, I will also know if they know the categorizing of foods in terms of; Fruits,
Vegetables, Grains, Protein, and Yogurt section.

II. INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS

I used Physical Science For Senior High School Book given by Sir Drazen before
we begin our local demonstration for guidelines and lectures, the authors were Joel E.
Unday, Nenita D. Makalintal and Mylene G. Dinglasan, printed pictures, food plate, cut
papers, tape, 3 pentel pens, 1 white board marker, white papers, white board eraser,
evaluation sheets, laptop and projector for powerpoint presentation, and extension chord.

III. ACTIVITIES UNDERTAKEN

Before their activity, I shared some informations about the four biological
macromolecules which were; (1) Carbohydates, (2) Lipids, (3) Poteins, and (4) Nucleic
acids. Therefore, the maximum 1 hour teaching will not be achieved that is why I only
discussed the carbohydrates and lipids on my 3 rd local demonstration. Again, individually
I gave them different tasks wherein they will research informations about the said
macromolecules and the informations they have searched will be discuss in front of their
classmates. The unsaid informations were discussed by me.

IV. PROBLEMS ENCOUNTERED

There were only some problems in terms of their reporting, some of them were
very shy to report their answers, while some of them were not confident enough to face
their classmates when they were in front
V. LESSONS LEARNED
I have learned that some of them were not confident enough to flaunt themselves
in front that is why I always recommend them atleast two members of each group will
discussed in front.

4th DAY LOCAL DEMONSTRATION

DATE: April 23, 2019
TIME: 01:00 pm
SUBJECT: Science
TOPIC: Biological Macromolecules
SECTION: TVL 1B
ADVISER: Mr. Drazen Sumague
ST: Heizel P. Gatdula
I. RATIONALE
Continuation of my 3rd local demonstration teaching but the next day was
considered as my 4th local demo teaching because it was another topic. It also started with
a 3 minutes video prayer with the students, greet my students a good afternoon and
checked their attendance if there were absentees that day. I asked them about the
discussion about our last meeting and required them to answer what was the two
biological macromolecules explained by their classmates in front. Thus, corrected and
answered the game which they played entitled “FOOD PLATING”.

II. INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS

I used Physical Science For Senior High School Book given by Sir Drazen before
we begin our local demonstration for guidelines and lectures, the authors were Joel E.
Unday, Nenita D. Makalintal and Mylene G. Dinglasan, printed pictures, food plate, cut
papers, tape, 3 pentel pens, 1 white board marker, white papers, white board eraser,
laptop and projector for powerpoint presentation, and extension chord.

III. ACTIVITIES UNDERTAKEN

Before their activity, I summarized their answers about the two biological
macromolecules which were carbohydrates and lipids. Just like what they did on the
previous they will do the same on the remaining macromolecules (proteins, nucleic
acids.)

IV. PROBLEMS ENCOUNTERED

I did not encounter any problems and they were very good on that.

5th DAY LOCAL DEMONSTRATION

DATE: April 29, 2019
TIME: 01:00 pm
SUBJECT: Science
TOPIC: Sources of Energy
SECTION: TVL 1B
ADVISER: Mr. Drazen Sumague
ST: Heizel P. Gatdula
I. RATIONALE
It was actually my 5th and last local demonstration teaching and I am very
overjoyed because at last I finish the required demonstrations, additional to that I can also
see myself growing along with the students and also I can see that my improvement in
teaching was very evident because majority of my students did pass in my evaluation
every after the demonstration. My last demonstration was like the previous wherein it
also started with a 3 minutes video prayer with the students, greet my students a good
afternoon because afternoon was my schedule with them and checked their attendance if
there were absentees that day. The next thing happened was the recalling of what they
have learned on the previous topic to know if I could move on to the next topic which
was “Sources of Energy”. I also prepared a game which was entitled “RIDDLE, RIDDLE
ON THE BOARD” wherein I will call some volunteers to answer the riddles, and if they
got the correct answer, extra points will be given or distributed if they were in groups.

II. INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS

I used Physical Science For Senior High School Book given by Sir Drazen before
we begin our local demonstration for guidelines and lectures, the authors were Joel E.
Unday, Nenita D. Makalintal and Mylene G. Dinglasan, printed pictures, cartolina
papers, 3 pentel pens, 1 white board marker, white papers, white board eraser, evaluation
sheets, laptops and projector for powerpoint presentation, and extension chord.

III. ACTIVITIES UNDERTAKEN

I grouped the students into three groups, 9 members each because no one was
absent that time. I used stations, wherein in every corner of the classroom there are
laptops and in each laptops there were videos about Sources of Energy. The sources of
energy were obtained in Laptop 1; Fossil Fuels, Laptop 2; Geothermal Energy, and in
Laptop 3; Solar energy each video lasts for 3 minutes and each group was given
differrent task to do. For laptop 1, they should make a poster about the fossil fuels, for
laptop 2, they should compose a jingle about geothermal energy, and the last laptop 3,
they create a concept map about Solar energy, and answer the questions how the energy
formed and managed. Points will be given to those group who draw, compose, and create
better.

IV. PROBLEMS ENCOUNTERED

Some of the students did not cooperate, for example in poster making some of
them did not give ideas on what the supposed to draw, in terms of composing jingle some
of them did not sing, and in creating concept map some of them did not actually report
their answers.

V. LESSONS LEARNED
I have learned that when it comes to station teaching, time management should be
considered for example in each station it should only comprised 10 minutes would be fine
so there arae also timre for reporting or flaunting their works.
