automation and AI are taking over more traditional accounting duties;
accountants need to diversify their skills, and
accountants need to diversify their skills.

Problem

The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act is shaping up to be the granddaddy of tax
reforms, affecting everything from meals and entertainment expenses to
depreciation. Fear not, robots aren’t coming to take your job. But AI is
becoming more and more capable of handling complex accounting duties
such as collecting transactions and compiling them into financial
statements and tax returns. Technology is reducing the need for
traditional, rules-based accounting skills and increasing demand for
financial analysis and strategy. But you can’t just roll out of bed one day
and start doling out financial advice to your clients.

Solution

Make sure you’re keeping your accounting software up to date every

month so it can do the heavy lifting for you when it comes to new TCJA
rates and deductions. Consider automation taking over repeatable tasks
as an opportunity for growth rather than a challenge. Become as familiar
as possible with the advanced features—like forecasting and analytics—
offered by your accounting software so you’re better equipped to
interpret and translate the increasingly deep data it provides into
actionable advice.

Evaluation

Heading into 2020, AI and cybersecurity will be on the minds of

accounting professionals, but old challenges like long hours and
constantly evolving tax laws aren’t going away, either.

definition, or write a review of the current state of knowledge in your field, raising a
question about the current state of knowledge and offering a possible answer.

In this trying times AI are becoming more, and more efficient than the standard workforce. The
jobs offered in the doing taxes and becoming a façade because of ever changing technologies
that can do better and accurate jobs than a professional accountant do. Will the accountant
prevail and be competitive against the machines? In the coming years it will be a hard battle and
those clinging to the profession will find themselves caught in the grasp of technology and at the
mercy of AI if they will not adapt and improve their skills. They will be outclassed and outwork
by the machines. As a future accountant all we can do as a professional is to adapt and improve
our trade to the ever-changing field. We need to diversify our skills so that if one category shuts
another one opens and we can grab the opportunities that are present and make do will the thins
that are available Consequently, if we can’t cope with the changes we can always opt as a
consulting and advisory jobs, so that we can still do our beloved profession and apply our trades.
