Report of English Language Teaching Club

English Language Teaching Learning Club (ELTLC) was first formed


in 2071, in the initiation of English Faculty member, Mr. Dammar Singh
Saud, for creating an English environment as a platform for all students
and teachers who have interest in ELT. To enhance the quality of
English language teaching and learning in Darchula Multiple Campus, it
has conducted the following activities and programs.
 It was first formed on 2071/12/12 by the conference of English
students and teachers of Darchula Multiple Campus and
coordinated by the Lecturer of ELT, Mr. Dammar Singh Saud.
 In the presidency of Janaki Dhat, the 15 members Executive
Committee of ELTLC was formed.
 It prepared the vision, mission, aims and objectives of the club.
 It prepared the policies, rules and regulation of the club.
 It prepared annual work plan of the club.
 It conducted the interaction program on the topic "Importance of
ELTLC in Darchula Multiple Campus" on 2071/12/21.
 It conducted the regular meetings of the club.
 It was reformed on 2073/09/05 by the conference of English
students and teachers of Darchula Multiple Campus and
coordinated by the Lecturer of ELT, Mr. Dammar Singh Saud.
 In the presidency of Hayat Singh Dhami, the 15 members
Executive Committee of ELTLC was reformed.
 Reformed ELTLC committee took its first meeting on 2073/09/06
and decided to give congratulation and best wishes to the newly
elected members of the club and conduct essay competition in
English language.
 It conducted essay competition on the topic "ICT in ELT" on
2073/09/08 in which 8 students of ELT were participated.
 The four participants who secured winning positions were
rewarded in the annual function 2073 of the campus.
 It took next meeting on 2073/09/12 and congratulate all
participants and winner of the essay competition which was
conducted on 2073/09/08.
 It took other meeting on 2073/12/17 and decided to visit
Chameliya Hydropower on 2073/12/25 as educational tour and
formed 5 members educational tour management committee in the
chairmanship of ELTLC's president, Mr. Hayat Singh Dhami.
 It was reformed on 2074/11/15 by the conference of English
students and teachers of Darchula Multiple Campus and
coordinated by the Assistant Lecturer of ELT, Mr. Soban Singh
Dhami.
 In the presidency of Upendra Singh thagunna, the 15 members
Executive Committee of ELTLC was reformed.
 Reformed ELTLC committee took its first meeting on 2074/11/ 21
and decided to give congratulation and best wishes to the newly
elected members of the club and conduct house-wise quiz contest
at 2074/11/25 in English language.
 It conducted quiz contest on 2074/11/25 in which 16 students from
each 4 houses of ELT were participated.
 The 12 participants from 3 houses who secured winning positions
were rewarded.
 It took next meeting on 2075/08/03 discussed about Jouljibi Great
Festival and decided to perform a play about issue of rape and
murder case of Nirmala Pant on 2075/08/05 at Jouljibi Great
Festival.
 It took another meeting at 2075/08/27 and reformed ELTLC with
presidency of Bhan Badhur Pal and other 14 members.
 ELTLC is going to conduct co-curricular and extra-curricular
activities such as discussion, quiz contest, field visit, debate
,spelling contest, essay competition, poetry recitation, rehearsal
teaching, drama presentation, documentary film show, interaction,
workshop, seminar, and many more ELT activities and programs
for enhancing quality English Language Teaching and Learning in
the campus.
Challenges
The challenges for the club are as follows:
 Poor background of the students
 Less motivated to English Language
 Hesitation to participate in its activities
 Lack of economic support
 Lack of Remuneration
 Lack of English environment
Suggestions
 Awareness for concerned authorities and stakeholders to know the
importance of English Language from the base
 Motivation
 Provision of remuneration and incentives
 Fund raising
 Creation of English friendly environment
 Provision of annual budget
 Regular interaction and rapport among members
 Positive attitude
 Implementation of its policies and programs
With vision of enhancing quality of English Language teaching and
learning in Darchula Multiple Campus, it has been conducting many co-
curricular and extracurricular activities and programs. Though it is
facing many challenges, its objectives can be achieved by considering
above mentioned suggestions.
