Subject : Report on English Week of SBPI Selandar, Melaka.

Introduction
The English week was held on 10th March 2023 at Dataran Wawasan of SBPI Selandar. This
activity was carried out on the 3rd week of March in conjunction with Language Month. This
programme was organized by the English Language Society. This activity is held annually and
participated by all students and teachers. The aim of the report is

Objectives:
The main objective of the English week was to gain new knowledge and learn how to work as one
team besides making new friends. For instance, the student could learn about something new
when they took part in the competition. This is because the activity helped to sharpen the student’s
writing and cognitive skills. As a consequence, students became more active while improving their
English mastery. All in all, this English Week has proven its ability to achieve all of its objectives.

Activity:
There were many interesting activities held during the English week. For example, Scrabble
competition and Explore Race that were organized by Form 4 students. It is because both
activities did not require a lot of budget. Consequently, those activities helped the students to gain
knowledge and enrich their vocabularies.

Recommendation:
Through the English Week that has been held, we realized that our activities are still lacking in
many issues. To make up for the upcoming English week event, it is recommended for the winner
of each competition to qualify themselves in representing schools at the district or state level. Due
to this, the following year competitors will quadrople their efforts in joining competitions held in
school.

Closure

On the whole, the English Language Panel of this school had organised a very successful
event. We wish to thank all parties involved in making this event a success. It is hoped that more
events will be organized in the future.

Subject: Report on A Visit to the Mawar Spastic Kids Home

On the 4th June 2022 which was a Saturday, 25 Welfare Club members of SMK Paya
Dalam had visited Mawar Spastic Kids Home in Jeniang, Kedah. We were accompanied by 2
teacher advisors, Madam Rani Mukherji and Mr Sabri bin Amri. The bus departed from school
about 8 am and reached Mawar Spastic Kids Home at 9 am.

Objective of the visit

The main objective of the visit was to donate new clothes, school bags and some basic
food items to the children there. Besides, the aim was also to spend some time with the children
and help with some cleaning around the home.

Activities held at the home

Upon arrival, we were welcomed by the management, Mr Arif Salleh. We were all ushered
to the main hall by Mawar Spastic Kids Team. club members distributed the new clothes and
school bags to each child. The food items were given to the management of the home. After
lunch, we played some games like Passing the Parcel and Musical Chairs with the children.
Although a few children were unable to follow the games, we all had a whale of a time together.

After the games, Farah, our club president, taught the children how to make paper planes
using coloured papers. We took many pictures of their products. In the evening, we helped to
clean the area, some washed the toilets while the others wiped the window panes. Surprisingly,
the older children prepared tea and baked some butter cookies for tea time. Then, we sat together
to have tea and chatted. Additionally, some children performed a lovely Malay traditional dance
for us.
Before leaving the home, we hugged the children and shook hands with them. We really
had a wonderful time with the special children from Mawar Spastic Home.

Recommendation for future programme

Despite the event being a huge success, there is room for improvement. It is
recommended/suggested that the event should be made as an annual event for different
community services. For example, Welfare Club can organise visits to nursing homes, relief
centers and orphanages. It is because the club members can give back to the community. Thus,
the members will gain many benefits due to the visits.

Closure

On the whole, the Welfare Club of this school had organised a very successful event. We
wish to thank all parties involved in making this event a success. It is hoped that more events will
be organized in the future.
