Theory A: Social Development Theory


● Concept 1 - Peer Relations
○ Proposition - Relationship of two or more people
● Concept 2 - The relationship between parental involvement, peer pressure,
and self-concept to first semester freshman grade point average for honors and
non-honors students
○ Proposition - The relationship between parental involvement, peer
pressure and self-concept
● Concept 3 - Peer Influence
○ Proposition - The effects of your peer’s influence on yourself
● Concept 4 - Peer Socialization
○ Proposition - Socializing can develop one’s self as to being explored
in other cultures.
● Hypothesis - Socializing with other people to develop one’s self
consciousness.

Theory B: Psychosocial Theory


● Concept 1 - Social Development
○ Proposition - impact of social experience over one's whole lifespan.
● Concept 2- Stages of Psychosocial Development
○ Proposition - how social interaction and relationships played a role in
the development and growth of human beings.
● Concept 3 -Stage 5: Adolescents on Social Relationships
○ Proposition - Adolescents need to develop a sense of self and personal
identity.
Hypothesis: There is an impact of external factors such as parents and society on
one’s personality development from childhood to adulthood.

Theory C: Self-Determination Theory


● Concept 1 - Extrinsic Motivation
○ Proposition - a motivation that is driven by external rewards, it arises from
the outside of the individual
Concept 2 - Intrinsic Motivation
○ Proposition - a motivation that is driven by internal rewards, the motivation to
engage in a behavior arises from within the individual because it is naturally
satisfying to them.
Concept 3 - Human’s Three Basic Needs
● Proposition - There are three basic psychological needs that underlie one’s
growth and development.
● Autonomy - one has choice and willingly endorsing one’s behavior.
● Competence - experience of mastery and being effective in one’s activity.
Relatedness - the need to feel connected and belonging with others.
Hypothesis: There are two motivations adolescents may use in order to reward
themselves internal or external rewards in order to have the three basic needs of a human.
