Hypothesis: There is an impact of external factors such as parents and society on one’s personality development from childhood to adulthood.
Theory C: Self-Determination Theory
● Concept 1 - Extrinsic Motivation ○ Proposition - a motivation that is driven by external rewards, it arises from the outside of the individual Concept 2 - Intrinsic Motivation ○ Proposition - a motivation that is driven by internal rewards, the motivation to engage in a behavior arises from within the individual because it is naturally satisfying to them. Concept 3 - Human’s Three Basic Needs ● Proposition - There are three basic psychological needs that underlie one’s growth and development. ● Autonomy - one has choice and willingly endorsing one’s behavior. ● Competence - experience of mastery and being effective in one’s activity. Relatedness - the need to feel connected and belonging with others. Hypothesis: There are two motivations adolescents may use in order to reward themselves internal or external rewards in order to have the three basic needs of a human.
