1. Brief description of the application/program:

The Glucose Buddy Diabetes Tracker app has been ranked as the #1 diabetes app for over 10 years
and offers numerous features for managing the user’s diabetes including blood sugar, A1C, and
medication. It also logs weight, blood pressure, and insulin, along with its ‘carb tracking’ feature
which is a fast and convenient tool for measuring their carb intake.

It possesses all the features the user needs to receive an accurate tracking depiction. It helps track
blood sugar and measure the A1C with medication monitoring and an easy log to keep track of their
insulin levels, blood pressure, and carb intake. The advanced ability of the ‘Glucose Buddy Diabetes
Tracker’ works to combine the data it collects into a ‘trends’ section to display patterns and changes
in bolus, blood sugar, and body weight.

2. Components/elements of the application/program if any:

 Tracker - a single app to simultaneously track the blood sugar, A1C, medication, blood pressure,
food intake, and activity, the Glucose Buddy Diabetes Tracker is the one to use. This convenient
‘buddy’ stores all these important elements in an easily comprehensible platform where the user
can see changes in their blood sugar and carb intake on an hourly basis. They can also be able to add
notes to their entries for future reference.
 Log - The ‘log’ feature of the Glucose Buddy Diabetes Tracker records multiple areas that affect the
overall diabetic health such as blood sugar, insulin, A1C, carbs and meals. The new ‘Meal IQ’ is an
innovative way to see how the food they eat directly affects the blood glucose in order to make
better food choices. The user can log their meals using an extensive food database that is featured
within the app. Once this information has been logged within the app, they can export the data into
printable PDF reports and CSV files they can take to their healthcare provider.

3. Target users/recipients:
 Patients that require close monitoring of Blood Glucose
 Patients with type 1 or 2 diabetes
 Patients on insulin with high incidences of hypoglycemia
 Patients that can enter their personal data manually on a daily basis
 Endocrinologist
 Primary Care Physician
 Diabetes Clinic
 Caregiver

4. Benefits of the application/program:

The app seeks to address the information gap between patients’ home monitoring of their diabetes and
communication with their healthcare provider. It allows for the visual understanding of trends in a
diabetic patient’s BG levels throughout the day, along with a diary of diet, medication, and exercise
habits.

 On-line support to help monitor diabetes with multiple device-sync option

 Data can be displayed visually and sent to healthcare provider
 Free version has bare necessities to function as a diabetes monitoring tool

5. Limitations of the program, if any:

 Data input cannot be edited after saving and requires deletion and re-entering
 Ads can be annoying and limit screen view
 Display of data could be refined to show transition of BG throughout the day by time (e.g. before
breakfast, before lunch), in order to visualize trends, and not by high-average-low display, which
does not help to understand BG trends
 Does not display BG averages by time of day, only overall BG averages
 Data must be emailed separately with no direct in-app support
