WRITING TASK 2 : No. of words:314 BAND: 6.5

There is a certain belief that people will buy a product based on their needs
and there is no need for advertising but , these advertisements are creating the needs. I
take this opportunity to substantiate my views on the subject in question.
At the outset, I wish to state categorically that I concur with the statement albeit
not in it's its entirety. The reasons and benefits accruing out of my stand are as under.
The main reason is that people have to buy the products which are mandatory to
survive and advertising on those products are meaningless. People are more satisfied
when they buy a product which is absolutely useful for their needs but, advertisements
are stimulating the people to spend money on products that are not actually required
and this troubles them in their future. Also, some people have a belief that ad-free
products are more quality than the products that are advertised.
The other major reasons are as under. Majority of the people are not
motivated by the advertisements as they have to buy the everyday needs. Thus, ads
are influencing only a few people. If the buyers are once guaranteed by the quality of
products ,they will continue spending money even in the absence of advertisements.
Small-business brands may not be financially good for advertising but they may have
quality products. Since , people are following the trend of advertisements, the profits for
small-business brands for economically low. Therefore, there is no need for influencing
people through advertisements.
Having put forth my aforesaid views on a strong footing, taking into
consideration , their implications, I wish to reiterate my considered opinion and
conclude, in a nutshell that there may not be a need for advertising , as people should
not be influenced by ads and this will bring a change in the mindsets of people to buy
only their basic requirements.

WRITING TASK 1: No. of words:228 BAND: 6.5

Data of school leavers entering higher education and graduate earnings , one year
after the graduation in 1987 and 2007 are depicted in the given pie charts.
A glimpse of the chat reveals a lot of variations in the percentage of school
leavers and graduate earnings in the said years.
In 1987 , 14 percent of the school leavers entered higher education and it
exponentially increasesd to 35 percent in 2007. In 1987 ,18 percent of the graduates
earned more than double the national average. It is then decreased to 5 percent in
2007. 46 percent of the graduates in 1987 earned more than the national average
whereas in 2007 , it catapulted to 47 percent.
In 1987 ,25 percent of the graduates earned less than the national average. It
is then surged up to 45 percent in 2007. The number of graduates earned in 2007 were
was (refers to number-singular) more than the graduates in 1987. This paved a way
for lesser unemployment. 11% of the graduates were unemployed in 1987 whereas in
2007 , it was only 3 percent. Almost all the graduates after one year of graduation ,
were employed in 2007.
It is clearly evident from the aforesaid data that proportion of graduate earnings in
2007 , was comparatively higher than the graduate earnings in 1987 and only a small
proportion of graduates were left unemployed in 2007.
