Vocabullary
 A vocabullary
Is a set of familiar words within a person’s language. A vocabullary, usually
developed with age, serves as a useful and fundamental tool for communication and
acquiring knowladge.
 Vocabullary is teh all the language and word either used or understood by aperson
or grup of people
1. An example of vocabullary is all the words that a toddler understand
2. An example of vocabullary is the language used by doctors
 Little a definition and usage
Vocabullary is commonly defined as “all the words know and used by a particular
person”.
 Productive and receptive knowladge
1. The first major change distintion that must be mode when evaluting word
knowladge is whether the knoeladge is productive or receptive.
2. productive vocabullary, therefore, generally refers to words that can be
produced within an appropnate context and match the intended meaning of the
speaker or signer.
 Degree of knowladge
Within the receptive productive distinction lies a range of abilities that are often
refferred to as degree of knowladge.
 Depth of knowladge
Several frame work of word knowladge have been proposed to better operationalisme
this concept

2. Phonology –spoken form
3. Reference – meaning
4. Semantics – concept and reference
5. Register – appropracy of use or register
6. Collocation – lexical neighbours
7. Word associations
8. Syntax – grammatical funtion
9. Morphology word pants
 Definition of word
Word can be defined in various ways and estimates of vocabullary size differ
depending on the definition used

Types of vocabullary
a. Reading vocabullary : a literate person’s vocabullary is all the word they can
recognize when readinh.
b. Listening vocabullary : person’s listening vocabullary is all the words they can
recognize when listening to speech
c. Speaking vocabullary : a person’s speaking vocabullary is all the words the
use in speech
d. Writing vocabullary : word are used in various form of writing form formal
essays to sosial media feeds.

2. Explain and give example


a. Active voice (subject+verb+object) : a subject that does a job or an action on an
object.
Ex: okty drive a car
b. Adjective (adjective+noun) : a word used to describe noun or pronoun that can be
people (person) place, animal abstract object or concept.
Ex: the glass container is empty
c. Adverb : it’s verb that gives information about verb.
Ex: we stayed in doors all day
d. Article : a word used to modify a noun like a person, a place an object or idea
Ex: i need a phone
e. Auxiliary verb : verb used to help clarify main verb
Ex: i do want to go to paris
f. Clause : the notice is a sentence that consists of the subject and predicate but it
does not run it selft but becomes a complement to the rest of the sentence.
Ex: she doesn’t know where to share her feeling
g. Conjuction : word used to connect equal language unit (word with words, phrases
with phrases, clause with clause, sentence with sentence and so on)
Ex: we went home after the rain stopped
h. Infinitive : the verb has not changed from it’s base form
Ex: she went to the market to buy vegetables
i. Interjection : the spoken word spontaneously expresses feelings or thought that
are felt or come up suddely, such as shock delight, pain astonisment and so on
Ex: hello, how are you?
j. Sentence (subject+verb+object) : a gramatical contrustion containing a whole
mind
Ex: i study english
k. Subject : the perpetrator or something/person called by the writer in a sentences
the sample of the subject in the sentences is as follows
Ex: gina likes it
l. Tense : form a verb in english to indicate time (the present, the future or the past)
Ex: he’s handsome
m. Modal verb : a verb capital is sometimes called capital is an auxiliary verb. They
reveal things like possibilities permits and liabilities
Ex: she should stop briting her fingernails
n. Noun : word used to name or call people, object, places, and ideas
Ex: table, house, phone floor
o. Object : object is about who or to what the subject is doing an activity.
Additionally, objects are usually placed after predicate.
Ex: i attend a meeting
p. Participle : is a derivative form of a verb which will be used as an adjective,
noun, or a compound verb form.
Ex: i see her walking to the school this morning
q. Part of speech : is a fundamental part of the english sentences
Ex: part of speech
Noun: book, car
Pronoun: i, you, they, we
Verb: ask, buy
Adjective: santi is a beautiful girl
r. Passive voice : a form of sentences in which the subject of the sentences receives
the action , not takes the action
Ex: some flowers are planted by my parents
s. Phrase : group of word that are interrelated but do not contain subject and verb
elements
Ex: i really want to be good at sewing
t. Predicate : a type of sentences element in the form of a word used to describe the
state of the subject
Ex: his uncle will not arrive on time
u. Preposition : word that serve to amazing the relationship between the object and
other parts of the sentences
Ex: i was at home all day yesterday
v. Pronoun : a word used to replace a noun which can be a person , thing, animal,
place or abstract concept
Ex: i want nothing from you
w. Verb : word that serve to show the action of subject, show events or
circumstances
Ex: i cook a bolled egg for breakfast
