HYPERLOOP: A TRAIN TO FUTURE

(415,423,425,427,445,461)

SURVEY:
The Hyperloop is a proposed mode of passenger and freight transportation, first used to describe an open-source
vactrain design released by a joint team from Tesla and SpaceX. Hyperloop is described as a sealed tube or system of
tubes with low air pressure through which a pod may travel substantially free of air resistance or friction. On 22
February 2018, Hyperloop One has entered into a MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) with the Government of
Maharashtra to build a hyperloop transportation system between Mumbai and Pune that would cut the travel time
from the current 180 minutes to just 20 minutes. Indore-based Dinclix GroundWorks'. DGWHyperloop advocates a
Hyperloop corridor between Mumbai and Delhi, via Indore, Kota, and Jaipur.

BUDGET:
Preliminary cost estimates for this LA–SF suggested route were included in the white paper—US$6 billion for a
passenger-only version, and US$7.5 billion for a somewhat larger-diameter version transporting passengers and
vehicles. The mini project budget is estimated to be around Rs. 500.

USEFULLNESS:
This, if implemented, may reduce travel times compared to train and airplane travel over distances of under
approximately 1,500 kilometres. The Hyperloop could potentially convey people or objects at airline or hypersonic
speeds while being energy efficient compared with existing high-speed rail systems. Hyperloop transportation
system can be used over the conventional modes of transportation system that are rail, road, water and air. The new
method to transport people or things anywhere in the world quickly, safely, efficiently, on demand with minimal
impact on environment, weather concerns, eliminating emission, noise delay and pilot error. Now a day’s cities are
polluted, roads are crowed and travelling time is more and travelling experiences are now defined by chaos and
calamities. Hyperloop is all about improving transportation infrastructure.

TIMELINE:
The vactrain concept was first proposed by Robert H. Goddard in 1904. Musk first mentioned that he was thinking
about a concept for a "fifth mode of transport", calling it the Hyperloop. The MIT Hyperloop team developed the first
Hyperloop pod prototype, which they unveiled at the MIT Museum on 13 May 2016. Their design
uses electrodynamic suspension for levitating and eddy current braking. The first-ever passenger test of Hyperloop
technology was successfully conducted by Virgin Hyperloop with two employees of the company in November 2020.
It was hearalded as a "safety milestone."

FUTURE SCOPE:
The technology of Hyperloop is in its rudimentary stage. Although the technology is triple-crown, it can be worked
upon for improvement within the future. It is time to use resources smartly, travel green and the cost of mass transit
for everyone. Hyperloop has two versions namely passenger only and passenger plus vehicle hyperloop. This surely
reduces time of travel. This 11% cheaper than that of rail system. Hyperloop is indeed a next generation mode of
transport developed in this earlier generation.
