CLASSROOM POLICIES AND PROCEDURES

Class Attendance & Participation: Students are strongly encouraged to regularly attend class sessions.
Topics build on each other on a weekly basis and any missed class is detrimental to understanding new
material. If a student cannot attend class, the student is responsible for obtaining any missed
information (i.e. contacting class mates to obtain class notes). To be fair to other students, no class time
will be used to repeat work missed.

Class participation is conducive to learning. To participate in class, the instructor will assume that
students have completed the chapter reading assignments before coming to class. Participation will
then entail contribution to class proceedings by raising appropriate questions, answering questions, and
solving problems. Remember, the exams will cover material from the textbook and class session
presentations.

Assessment Due Dates: Students are strongly encouraged to participate in class session discussions and
are required to complete all assignments, activities, and exams on the dates provided in the course
syllabus. Students who miss assignments, activities and exams receive a grade of zero. Students who are
unable to write their exams on the scheduled date due to illness or other valid reasons MUST notify the
instructor in advance. All “make-up” exams (in exceptional cases with instructor-approved absences
only) will be scheduled at the instructor’s convenience.

Late Assignments: No late assignments will be accepted for this course. Please see the schedule and
deadline for all assignments!

Academic Integrity: Academic integrity is a fundamental value essential to the pursuit of learning at
College of the Rockies. Participating honestly, respectfully, responsibly, and fairly in this course ensures
that your qualification will continue to be valued and respected signifying your academic achievement.
As such, all College and Department policies on academic integrity will be strictly enforced and can be
found on the COTROnline site. You are responsible for reading and understanding the policy. Please ask
your instructor if in doubt or see the reference desk in the library for more information including proper
referencing and citation techniques. Please use APA referencing and citation methods. Failure to adhere
to College policies can result in disciplinary action.
