I. Learning Objectives
At the end of one-hour period at least 80% of the students with 75% proficiency
must be able to:
a. describe the Bohr’s atomic model;
b. illustrate Bohr’s atomic model and Rutherford’s atomic model; and,
c. explain the importance of understanding Bohr’s atomic model.
II. Learning Content
A. Topic: Electronic Structure of Matter
B. Reference: Science 9 – Learner’s Module, pp. 98-104
C. Materials: book, pictures, video, visual aids, manila paper, marker
III. Teaching/ Learning Procedure
1. Routinary Activities

2. Review
Review will be given to the students through quiz bowl.
D. Activity 1
The teacher will group the students into four. Each group will be given materials
needed for the activity. The students will create a concept map that will
differentiate Rutherford’s Atomic Model and Bohr’s Atomic Model. Each group
will choose their representatives to discuss their output in the front.
Criteria:
Content – 20 pts
Organization – 10 pts
Teamwork – 10 pts
Total: 40 pts
E. Analysis
The teacher will ask the following questions:
1. Why do fireworks produce different kind of colors?
2. How does Bohr improved Rutherford’s atomic model?
F. Abstraction
1. If the electron gets excited through adding energy, it can move out to higher
energy level. As electrons transition from higher-energy level to lower-
energy level, the extra energy is released from the atom by emission of light.
2. According to Bohr, nucleus is surrounded by electrons located in very specific
energy level.
3. Individual lines in an atomic spectrum corresponds to a definite energy
transformation within atom.
4. By knowing this concept, we tend to understand how the fireworks, bulbs
and etc. emitted different colors.
G. Application
Students will list at least three examples of object that produces different colors
(ex. fireworks).
