Study Questions:
When you hear the word “Communicable Disease”, what comes in your mind? Do you want to be a
communicable disease nurse and why? Recalling what are your experiences and preparations during
the lockdown for four (5) months due to COVID 19 pandemic. Write your thoughts on why you have to
wear mask, do social distancing, wash hands and boost your immune system in relation to the study of
Communicable Disease Nursing. Write an essay of 200-300 words.

When I hear communicable diseases the only thing that comes into my mind is infectious or
people who are infected and sometimes viruses that are very crucial now because of the pandemic
COVID 19 that is timely and relevant. Being a student nurse, I am willing to a communicable nurse
because it is part of nurse job to help people who struggles to their medical problems especially that
communicable disease is very common to the people that is not well off. If I will be given a chance to a
communicable nurse, I will utilize my skills and knowledge so that I will be able to give interventions to
the people. During lockdown, I felt down because I know that there is danger outside and I am also
affected even though I did not get the virus I feel that I have no purpose at all because I was lock here in
our house nothing to do but when OLFU opens 1st semestral period I got hope to have purpose again and
study hard again so I feel happy. My thoughts on why we must wear facemask? Simply because we don’t
want to get virus but some people here in our country not wearing mask effectively, they put down on
their mouth or they did not cover their nose so I don’t see effectiveness on wearing a mask. We do know
social distancing reduces the risk of transmitting the virus. But some people do not know how to utilize it,
I noticed when government announced that our country is under GCQ people immediately go outside and
public places and they did not know the word “social distancing” but social distancing is effective if the
people is disciplined and know how to utilize it. And of course, hand washing, because hands are the most
dirtiest part of our body to avoid acquiring the virus we should always wash our hands and avoid touching
anything that can trigger the virus. To boost our immune system, we should maintain good physical
status, we need to be healthy. Take vitamins it indicates that it can boost your immune system and get
regular exercises so that it strengthens your body. To fight the virus, we need a shield, and that shield is
that our immune system can fight to the monster which is the COVID 19.
