1.__________________________
Muscular System
2. __________________________
Endocrine System
3. __________________________
Integumentary System
4. __________________________
Immune System
5. __________________________
Respiratory System
In a diagram, illustrate the levels of structural organization of the urinary system, depicted from
the simplest (chemical) to the most complex (organism) as seen in Fig.1.1 (Module 1 page 6) (14
points)
ELABORATE: Laboratory Activity 02- Anatomical Terms and Planes of
Division
1. Select the appropriate term for location in each statement (5points)
1) Superior
2) Lateral
3) Medial
4) Internal
5) Proximal
2. Identify the plane of division based on the provided image of the brain (3points)
1) Midsagittal 2) Transverse 3) Frontal
3. Enumerate at least two (2) organs in each quadrant of the abdomen (8points)
Right Upper Quadrant
1. Liver
2. Gallbladder
Left Upper Quadrant
1. Stomach
2. Spleen
Right Lower Quadrant
1. Appendix
2. Cecum
Left Lower Quadrant
1. Urinary Bladder
2. Sigmoid

EVALUATE: SHORT QUIZ 01

1. Pick one (1) organ system aside from digestive and urinary system and create a
diagram to show its structural organization starting from chemical level to
organ level only. (5 points)
MUSCULAR SYSTEM

Tissue
Chemical Cellular Level
Level Level Organ
Neuromusc Level
Molecular Myoblasts ul-ar
level — actin Major
and myosin and junctions
Myofibers and muscles of
Microscopic
level — Fascicles the body
sarcomere
and myofibrils

2. Construct statements using anatomical terms that would best describe location
of the following organs relative to the heart. (5 points)
Example: The heart is inferior to the brain
a. Sternum – The sternum is anterior to the heart.
b. Lungs – The lungs are superior to the liver.
c. Pericardium – The pericardium external to the heart.
d. Stomach – The stomach is anterior to the spinal cord.
e. Rib cage – The rib cage is anterior to the heart.

3. Using any object available in your home (fruit, vegetable, etc) as reference,
submit a photo or draw the appearance of the chosen object if divided by the
following planes: (10 points)
a. Transverse plane

b. Oblique plane

c. Midsagittal Plane
ELABORATE: Laboratory Activity 03- The Cell
Enumerate different parts of the cell associated with the given general function. 20
points
Movement of Metabolism Degradation Synthesis
substances
- Plasma - Cytosol - Lysosome - Ribosome
Membrane - Peroxisome - Proteasome - Endoplasmic
- Cytoplasm - Mitochondrion Reticulum
- Centrosome - Nucleus
- Cilia and
flagella
- Golgi Complex

ELABORATE: Laboratory activity 04- Cell Division

Using the provided reference, illustrate the phases of each type of cell division.
(15points)
- Make sure you emphasize on key events that happens in each phase.

SOMATIC CELL DIVISION

REPRODUCTIVE DIVISION
ELABORATE: Laboratory activity 05- Online Discussion Forum (10points)
In our google classroom, under the assignment of the same name, share one (1)
specific type of cancer that you have heard of or have encountered before and
briefly describe it in 1 – 3 sentences.

1. Carcinoma. It is the most common type of cancer. Carcinoma is a cancer that

begins in the cells that make up the skin or the tissue that lines organs like
the liver and kidneys. Carcinomas, like other types of cancer, are aberrant
cells that divide uncontrollably. They can spread to other places of the body,
however this does not usually happen.

Challenge: The specific type of cancer can only be shared once! If the cancer of
your choice has already been shared, you may just reply additional information
under the submission of your classmate who shared it. Otherwise, look for
another type of cancer.

EVALUATE: Laboratory activity 06- The Microscope

List down five (5) steps in the given procedure for the proper use of the
microscope that you think emphasized on proper equipment care and briefly
explain why you think so in 1 – 2 sentences per identified step. (10 points)

1. “Use the Low Power Objective.”

- It is essential to use the low power objective lens first for the view to be wider,
increasing the number of cells you see.
2. “Return the bow-shaped lever gently.”
- It is to avoid damaging the slides or even causing scratches or breakage.
3. “Rotate the light intensity adjustment knob to adjust the brightness.”
- It is adjusted to the desired amount or comfortable level of light the user
needs. It also helps to adjust both the contrast and resolution of a specimen.
4. “While looking through the eyepieces, move both eyepieces until the left
and right fields of view coincide completely.”
- This is to avoid seeing two images, meaning that the distance is not correct.
Therefore, you should adjust the eyepieces closer together or farther apart until
the two fields merge to form a single image.
5. “Before engaging the oil immersion objective in the light path, place a
drop of immersion oil on the specimen at the area to be observed.”
- The placement of oil is essential to further increase the resolving power of a
microscope. By immersing both the objective lens and the specimen in
immersion oil, the numerical aperture of the objective lens is increased.
