PARANG ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

NARRATIVE REPORT ON THE SCHOOL LAC SESSION

(USING MARUNGKO APPROACH IN TEACHING READING)

‘Books are the quietest and most constant of friends; they are the most accessible and
wisest of counselors, and the most patient of teachers’. -Charles W. Elio-

A child's reading skills are important to their success in school as they will allow them
to access the breadth of the curriculum and improve their communication and language skills.
In addition, reading can be a fun and imaginative time for children, which opens doors to all
kinds of new worlds for them.

The school head and teachers of Parang Elementary School held a SLAC session on
the Action Research last Otober 15, 2018 which is about Using Marungko Approach In
Teaching Reading. The session started with a prayer, followed by an energizer through Audio
Visual Presentation (AVR). Mrs. Felipe welcomes all the teachers. She began her topic by
asking each teachers to share their experiences in teaching reading with their pupils. After the
sharing, Mrs. Felipe, presented her topic which is Using Marungko Approach In Teaching
Reading . She discussed what is Marungko Approach and how does this approach worked.
After the discussion she had her demonstration teaching using the new Approach learned.
And later the group had a Workshop on using Marungko approach in planning remedial
reading lesson and instructional materials.

They called it a day after the open forum by the educators and the speakers. The LAC
Session ended at exactly 5:00 PM.
