What if a solar storm and tsunami hits Seoul?

There are a variety of disasters that occurred on Earth. As time passed, some

of the catastrophic disasters were able to get predicted. However, there are also

some disasters people are hard to come up with a prediction. One of these is solar

storms and tsunamis. They are known as one of the catastrophic disasters with no

precautions that took away many lives. But what if these disasters happen at Seoul?

What are the effects? What are the precautions?

If a solar storm hits Seoul, Korea and some of its near countries will suffer from

a lack of electricity. Solar storms are electromagnetic outbursts that send billions of

tons of charged particles toward Earth. The cause of this is originated by the drastic

change of the magnetic field. When there is a drastic change in the sun’s magnetic

field which is the areas charging gases that generate powerful magnetic forces, the

accumulated energy on the sun’s surface can suddenly explode, which is called

solar flares. The release a massive energy and if these energies heads toward

Earth, this is a solar storm. Fortunately, solar storms aren’t dangerous to humans on

Earth’s surface. As long as people stay on the surface of the Earth, they can stay

safe because they will be protected by the Earth’s atmosphere. However, it can

greatly affect our technologies. When a sun storm hits Earth, it can produce coronal
mass ejection (CME). The problem is that CMEs can turn off all the electrics we use.

This will be very hard for people who live in Seoul as they will have almost nothing.

So, is there a way to prevent this? How can we fix these problems? Well, there are

no precautions during a solar storm unless it was predicted. Solar storms should be

predicted before it happens, and if a solar storm is predicted, places near Seoul or

even other countries far away should unplug all the electricity they are using.

What about tsunamis? Tsunamis are giant waves caused by earthquakes on

the seafloor. By the earthquake on the seafloor, it releases strong energy which

moves the water drastically. Apart from solar storms, tsunamis are not only harmful

for objects, but also humans. It can wash away everything on its path including

humans, who will die shortly after they are washed away. So there are some

precautions for a tsunami, It will be nice to predict accurately and avoid it, but

unfortunately, tsunamis are hard to predict precisely. There are many scientists who

try to predict a tsunami, but as I mentioned, by present technologies, we can’t

precisely know when and where a tsunami occurs. Instead, if anyone finds a signal

of a tsunami, a whole country should be alerted. And if did, people near Seoul need

to climb to the highest place they spot. The higher the place is the better.

In conclusion, if a solar storm hits Seoul, people will need to unplug all the

electricity and in the case of a tsunami, people need to be aware of a tsunami and
climb to the highest place.
