Solar SuperStorm

Is it real that the Internet can possibly be wiped out all around the globe?

The answer is possibly yes.

It is because of the solar superstorm, or Coronal Mass Ejection (CME). The news was
spreading worldwide. Based on a report by Fox Weather on Nov. 8, a team in the United States
is working to create an early warning system for dangerous solar activity that could damage
critical technology, which is the Solar SuperStorm.

It was also called the "Internet Apocalypse" because it can lead to the loss of the Internet, the
disruption of signals, and much more.

What is a solar superstorm, and do you think we should worry about it?

So a solar superstorm is basically an event on the sun in which the sun emits a strong burst of
energy through flares and coronal mass ejection. This event has strong electromagnetic
radiation. To sum it up, it is common and normal that the sun does this. In fact, thousands of
bursts are happening within a cycle, but not all of this is strong. On average, the earth gets hit
around four times every 11-year cycle.

As we all know, the sun is made up of a ball of fire, gasses, and energy that is continuously
burning. The situation with a solar storm is like boiling pork. If this boils and you add more, it will
burst. Well, it is like a solar flare. If it violently bursts and travels to Earth, it is what we call a
solar storm. So basically, the solar superstorm is a strong burst of energy from the sun, and it is
scattered into space. It is possible that it will travel to Earth.

The good thing is that we will be able to detect it hours or days before it hits the earth. So
basically, we can have a warning about it.

But the earth has a natural shield called the electromagnetic field, or EMF. It helps to lessen the
effect of the solar storm on Earth whenever it hits. on the spot where the EMF is weak,
specifically the North and South Poles. This is where the particles of the atmosphere interact
with the solar flare, and it is where the northern and southern lights occur.

However, how does this affect the internet on Earth?

Well, the satellites of Earth are in space and it is able to disrupt the signals whenever it hits.
Since it is strong, it is possible that the whole world can be affected. This solar storm is possible
to occur between January and October of 2024. It is because this is where the sun is mostly
active.

In fact, a solar superstorm already happened way back in 1859. It is also known as the largest
geomagnetic storm ever recorded in history. It causes fire in different places all around the
world because it disrupts the flow of electricity on telegraph systems, which causes it to burn.
This solar superstorm also causes widespread aurora borealis and australis, so that even
places that normally don't have them have them. Although we can experience a solar
superstorm, it will not be as harsh as before. It is because our technologies are now more
advanced than before that we can detect them before they hit Earth. So we can prepare ahead
of time.

On the other hand, we should not worry because scientists are continuously working on how to
prevent or lessen the impact of it on Earth. Since it is possible that we can have early warnings
before it hits Earth,

Final Question:

What if scientists were not able to prevent it from happening?

My Ans:

If scientists were unable to prevent the impact of a solar superstorm on Earth, it could lead to
various consequences. The intense burst of solar radiation and charged particles could interfere
with communication systems, disrupt satellite operations, and potentially damage or overload
power grids. This might result in widespread and prolonged power outages, affecting various
aspects of modern life, including telecommunications, transportation, and emergency services.
