1.General information

This manual is intended to assist users in the installation, connection and

commissioning of the weather station. We will not be liable for any damage caused by
non-observance of the instructions of this manual.

This manual is only applicable to SolarMAN weather station WP-1, and shall not
apply to other types.

This symbol indicates potential hazard to personal or device. Users should set the
device under the instruction of this manual, otherwise a personal injury or device
damage might occur.

Notice

This symbol indicates the issues that users should take account into. Users should pay
attention to the notice while setting the device, otherwise a device damage might

2.Safety Instructions & Notes

Please read the instructions and notes carefully, otherwise personal injury or device
damage might occur if not avoided.

2.1 Safety instructions

 All installations should be performed by trained staff;

 Please cut off the power during installation and connection；

 It is prohibited to open the housing or remove the connected equipment；

 Please make sure that all operations during the device setting are in
compliance with local laws and regulations.

2.2 Attentions

 Damaged device must be replaced immediately. Please contact the

manufacturer for repair or replacement, if the device is still within
warranty period. Self maintenance or continuous working is not accepted.

 The device must be operated with specific power supply. The working
voltage should be within specified range.

 Please do not place the device under high temperature environment, near
open fire, or immersed in any liquid.

 Please keep the device away from children.

 Please turn off the power when the device is not working for a long time.

3.Installation instructions

3.1 Packing list

Please check the packing list carefully before installation. If a device defect, accessory
missing, or other problem exit, please contact manufacturer immediately.
Notice

To avoid the equipment damage, please avoid collision while opening the package.Please
do not disassemble connected equipment.

Warning

Lightning rod is an optional equipment. IGEN shall not be liable for any damage
occurred if lightning rod is not installed.

Before installation, please place the lightning rod in a concealed location to avoid any
accident.

3.2 Installation tools

4. Installation procedures

4.1 Installation diagram

Some types of weather stations only contain some sensors as shown in the diagram.
Please check your packing list and install the devices following the procedures.

Notice

1. Before delivery, devices are installed and configured inside instrument shelter and
communication box. Please do not disassemble the instrument shelter and
communication box during installation. Please protect the connected wires during
installation.

2. Users may prepare the electrical wires by themselves, or electrical wires could be
ordered with the weather station.

4.2 Install the arms

Outer hexagonal screw8*35(2pcs)

4.3 Install wind speed sensor and wind direction sensor

Notice

The wind direction sensor shell has a white south mark point. When
installing bracket, ensure the wind arrow head and tail and the south mark
point to be in one line and align the arrow head to the north.

4.3.1 South mark point

1.Confirm the direction with the compass in the wind direction sensor package, white pointer as
south direction.

2. Install wind direction sensor on the arms, adjust pointer head, tail and south pint to be in same
line. Pointer head is at one side of south point.Adjust pole direction and make pointer to be south
and mark the positions of the four screws of the flat stand pole.

4.3.2 Install wind speed sensor and wind direction sensor

4.4 Install the flat base stand

Notice

When drill the platform, please adjust the direction according to the south mark point, ensure the
direction of the south mark point of the sensor to be south.

Expansion screws M8*80 (4pcs)

1.Requirements : there cannot be any plant or buildings which will keep out the light
within 5 meters around the stand and sensors. Within 10 meters there cannot be any
landform,plant or buildings which will affect the wind speed and direction. The
ground should be smooth and broad. If it is soil surface, please build a cement
foundation (Round cement foundation: diameter: 1.5 m , thickness: min. 25 cm. ), the
tripod should be fixed by expansion screws.

2.In coastal areas, please add a wind cable to make the tripod more wind-resistant.

3.Please arrange the cables according to the client’s requirements and the actual
situation. The electric wires should be covered by PVC tube. Please arrange the
electric cables in wall or air if possible. Cover the PVC tube well to make the cables
water-resistant, and install an airs witch to prevent safety accidents.

4.5 Install the pyranometer sensor

Step:

1. Attach the sensor bracket to the main stand pole.

2. Unscrew the sensor protection cap.

4.6 Install ambient temperature + humidity sensor

Step:
1. Fix Z shape bracket to the main pole.
2. Install the temperature & humidity sensor to Z shape bracket.

4.7 Install Sensor logger

Step:
1. Screw the Sensor logger to the pole using hoop.

2. Pay attention to the below.

5. Install the electrical wire

5.1 Sensor wire
Warning

It is strictly prohibited to connect the power to the power supply during the wiring process.

Step:
1. Pay attention to below point.
There are three stop-positions here and please make them connected rightly and stop
rightly at every position.

2. Attach the male & female head and lock it according to the waterproof aerial head
tag.

Butt joint tighten water-proof cap

Above is a set of waterproof connectors, including 7 parts. Check the tightness before connecting:
1. Slightly loosen 1&2, 6&7 successively;
2. Then slightly loosen 2&3, 4&6(pay attention to the sequence);
3. Tighten 2&3,4&6;
4. Tighten 1&2, 6&7(finally to loosen1&7, otherwise, 2&3, 4&6will not be tightened
completely.)

5.2 Power and RS485 wiring instructions

RS485 wiring process:

1. Prepare extended line. Line order: 485A blue and 485B blue-white.
2. Insert the RJ45 crystal head into the waterproof connector.
3. Tighten water-proof cap.

Power wiring process:

1. Judge positive and negative pole according to the color of Sensor Logger reservation
connection line: red line is positive and black line is negative.
2. Connect power wire: power positive to red line and power negative to black line.
3. Tighten water-proof cap.
