My warmest salutations and congratulations to the decisive completers
and purpose-driven graduates of School Year 2018-2019. This year was filled with challenges that confronted the teachers and learners not only along teaching- learning process but more so with the uncontrollable circumstances brought about by climate change. The theme “Unity in Diversity: Quality Education for All” speaks more of how resilient teachers and learners are, in conquering difficult situations that pop up unexpectedly. As the Department of Education ceaselessly promote and improve the K to 12 Curriculum, unity in diversity becomes a strategy in ensuring that the delivery of quality basic education in all its forms reach the target beneficiaries-the learners. In the advent of internationalization, unity amidst diversity is the key. Diversity as it is, is a reality in considering the differences of our students. Families have their own cultures in their own homes affecting the behaviors and beliefs of each and everyone in the classroom. This is not a problem though. Instead, this is a challenge. The challenge is to see the colorful dynamics ‘in the students’ interactions and dealings with one another. This points out their uniqueness in their capacities and skills. Further, the challenge is to blend the different hues into one magnificent painting. And this lies in the hands of the teacher, and the entire school community. Here then lies the depth of our respect for one another. Respect means providing space for other interfaces. It does not limit. It does not exclude. It does not manipulate. Respect, too is providing the same opportunities and allocating the same resources to everyone; notwithstanding the importance that each one contributes to the holistic development of our learners. My dear educators, this is what we need to focus on as we journey through the changes there may be in our implementation of school policies, we do not sacrifice the respect that each and every student deserve. Let us continue enhancing our schools’ esprit de corps as we face the challenges that each school year poses. Good luck and Godspeed!
