QUIZ 1

Instructions: Use clean paper and black ballpen. Please make sure that your hand
writing is READABLE or else I will marked it ZERO. Submit your answers in the Google
Sheet Link.
I. Identify the following.
I. When will you know that chemical change has occurred?
2. What do we call changes of state from gas to solid?
3. Solid to liquid
4. Liquid to gas
5. A property that can be easily observed without changing the identity of the
substance.
6. Pressure and temperature of a gas are directly proportional. What kind of gas law
is it?
7. What do we call the changes that does not alter the chemical composition or
identity of the substance, only the form?
8. It occur when a substance reacts and forms one or more new substances.
9. Heat moves out the system into the surroundings.
10. Substances created by the chemical change.
11. What gas law is when the pressure and volume of a gas are inversely
proportional?
12. It a property that has the ability to produce a change in the identity of matter.
13. An increase in temperature leads to an increase in volume of the gas.
14. Substances that are broken down by the chemical change.
15. Heat moves into the system from the surroundings, so the surroundings gets
colder.
16. What will be the product of iron plus oxygen using combination reaction?
17. What will be the product of hydrochloric acid plus sodium hydroxide if there will
be double-replacement reaction?
18-20.What are the three things needed for combustion reaction to occur?
II. Show solution on the following problem.
1. The pressure of the helium gas inside a balloon is 72.0 kPa at 9°C. Assume the
amount of gas and the volume remains constant. What is the temperature of the
helium gas inside the balloon if the pressure changes to 86.3 kPa?
2. A hot air balloon with an unknown volume at a pressure of 56.7 kPa rises where
the atmospheric pressure is measured to be 23.8kPa with 230L volume. Assuming
there is no change in the temperature or the amount of gas, calculate the hot air
balloon’s initial volume.
3. An oxygen gas occupies 327 L at 26.6 K with a pressure of 92.8 kPa. Find its
temperature if it has 73.4 L with a pressure of 238 kPa.
4. A balloon is filled with 56.7L of helium gas outside at 39°C. The balloon is taken
indoor, in which the volume decrease to 23.9L. Assuming the pressure and the
amount of gas remain constant, what is the temperature inside the room?
