Before I watched the videos, I used to wonder what happens inside the Emergency

Room of hospitals, what would it be like for a patient, for a doctor, and most especially for a
nurse. As a senior student nurse, I’ve realized that as an ER nurse, you must always be
attentive, alert, and prepared. Because inside the room, as I observed the pace is really quick
and one should not be negligent of details. In additional, every patient admitted within that
area are in need of urgent attention, which must be given immediately.

Inside the ER room, what counts the most was the care they gave to the patient. They
had to be careful and mindful in every step of the way, just a patient to survived. From the
placement of IVF and all. They caught my attention in the fast-paced environment inside the
Emergency Room. The movement of people gave me energy. The adrenaline level of people
was high and contagious though, such that if you were there, you would feel the rush and
would be driven by the same energy.

Also, patients in the ER room have different cases and concerns, the stress of handling
patients but with proper care and diligence they may be avoided from worst situations. The
important thing is to take into consideration that in the ER room, they help to save lives by
assisting those who need urgent care and medication.

As a senior nursing student in the middle of this pandemic, I feel like I’m ‘behind’ in
terms of developing my nursing skill set, I’ve come to terms with the fact that it’s okay to
feel uncertain and even disappointed. The day clinical was cancelled felt as if something was
taken away from me. It was almost as if I collectively experienced a loss. But despite all of
this, it’s important to not let these emotions overpower me. It’s important to take a step back
and realize that life has its ups and downs but there’s always a silver lining. I just realized
that we are all in this together and we will be resilient and overcome this.

Having the privilege to continue school from home, I’ve taken advantage of all the
extra time I have by doing the things I want to do. As a student nurse who has a very
demanding course load, I often feel like my free time isn’t always my time. There’s always
something I could be studying for or working towards.

Despite of this global pandemic, I got the opportunity to have a face-to-face duty for
our midyear for two weeks in a hospital setting but with proper health protocols and for me
I’m beyond grateful and blessed because I had the chance to be exposed in a different areas
even if it was a short period of time but at least I’ve learned a lot.
