ABSTRACT

The database is about the blood bank management system. The information about the donors and
patients will be stored in database. Several blood banks would be connected together and they
share information of the blood availability and their data about patients and donors. The database
architecture is centralized database. The authorized user access the database by login using secret
password and can do the searching, updating and inserting of record in database.
BLOOD BANK:

Blood bank is the place where the blood is stored in result of blood donation by the people.

The blood is store and preserve for the later use in blood transfusion. The donors have to

Take test before giving the blood that insures the quality and usage of the blood.

INTRODUCTION OF BLOOD BANK MANAGEMENT SYSTEM:

In blood bank management system the information about the blood, patients and donors is store.
The complete data about the donors would be store in database that in case of urgent need of
blood the blood bank should be able to contact that person. The data about the blood availability
and there type would be store there and also the patients list which are on waiting list of getting
the blood.

The key features of this database system would be the following:

1) Donor information module:

 The information of donor is store in this module
 The insertion operation can be performed
 The updating operation can be performed
 The searching through donor record
2) Patient information module:
 The information of the patient is store in this module
 The insertion of data could be performed
 The updating of data is performed
 Searching through patient record
3) Authentication login module:
 User mode:
In user view the user can see the detail of the above two module but cannot perform any
type of operation on the data.
 Admin mode:
In the admin mode the person can see the record of patient, donor and blood. Admin can
edit the data inside the database. Admin has right to perform all task.

EXISTING SYSTEM:

The existing system is manual system is and all the information is stored in the record book and
it is not easy to maintain the data about the entities. And data can be misplaced easily and
redundancy of data can be there the information is not accurate and cause the problem. From the
previous record of the donor we can only contact the donor but if his/her information has been
change than it is not possible to track down the donor.

PROBLEM STATEMENT:

Pakistan blood banking system is not efficient and many people lost their life because of lack of
blood availability. In Pakistan there are many accidents and emergency can happen anytime and
injured patient need urgent blood transfusion. Pakistan annual blood rate demand is higher than
the annual collection of blood need in hospitals. The gap between demand and supply is getting
wider day by day and due to this the death rate is getting higher.

PROPOSED SOLUTION:

For blood bank a well organized blood management system should be develop which outlines the
complete information of patients, donors and blood availability to achieve a goal of supplement
of blood to needy people on time and if the blood type is not available than track a person who
had donated blood three months ago and request him to donate again in the case of emergency. A
unique id is assigned to all donors so it will be easy to track them with the information store in
database. To ensure the safe blood supply through keeping the record of test in database needed
to perform before giving blood. All the alliance blood bank would be sharing the database with
each other and they can share recourses with each other to ensure the supply of blood to patient
in a hospital.
