Geography
and Climate
Tegucigalpa is the Capital of Honduras and
is located in the mountain ranges of the
country. Honduras has 18 departments
(departamentos). Honduras is a coastal
country located on the eastern tip of South
America. Honduras consist of mostly
mountain regions with a few flat planes
near the coasts. Geographically, Honduras
is best known for its scenic places to visit
and its coasts.

Honduras is humid and hot for most of the year.
Unlike some other countries Honduras’s weather
and climate vary based on altitude rather then
seasons. There are a lot of mountain regions in
Honduras and there is a ot of coastline land so the
climate and weather in the country are mainly
based on where you are. Mountain regions in
Honduras tend to be less humid and colder, while
coastal areas tend to be more humid. The average
high temperature in Honduras is 32 degree
celsius(90 degrees fahrenheit). The average low
temperature in Honduras is 2o degrees celsius(68
degrees fahrenheit). There is a rainy season and a
dry season in Honduras. Honduras also
experiences Hurricanes though, and the average
annual rainfall is 84 cm(33in).

Arte
Honduras is very well known for their folk/ primitiva (primitive) art
- José Antonio Velásquez (1906-83) and Pablo Zelaya Sierra
(1896-1933).
They use variedad (variety) of mediums such as
- Oil painting
- Clay pottery (jars, pots), clay replicas of ancient artifacts
- Carved jade
- Wood panels and doors
Political art is very common
- Murals from the COPINH Center in La Esperanza, Intibucá are and
example of this.
Cultura

Honduras has a very diverse population


- 85% being a mix of European and Latin decent
- 6% being amediranian, 7% white, and 3% black
- Most still practicing chrisiantiy/ roman catholicism
The official language of Honduras is Spanish but most of the population is
English speaking
Health and wellbeing-
Salud y Bienestar
The health and well being in honduras is not the best but most

certainly not the worst. The adult literacy rate was 80.0 in 2005

according to the Human Development Report for Honduras. The

obesity rate in Honduras for ages 20 and over is 21%. The nation

faced a huge dengue outbreak in 2010. Honduras spends 8.7% of its

GDP on healthcare. Only 2.9% of the population has private

healthcare. The population is 9.476 million people


Food and
Entertainment
Honduras has developed a very rich culinary culture over many years. Many of their

dishes are sea food related such as Soup De Caracol, Fried Yojoa fish, and Ceviche

De Corvina. There is also a host of local drinks like Horchata, licuado, and picol.

Honduras has a amazing entertainment culture as well. There are many different

forms of entertainment there but one of the biggest and most well known is the live

music and dance industry. One of the most popular dances is Garifuna dancing.

Overall honduras has a beautiful food and entertainment culture
