Introducing
Sets
Set – is a well – defined collection of distinct object.
Well – Defined means that you can determine
exactly whether an object belongs to a set or not.
Element – the objects in the set.
Braces– used to denote a set separated by commas.

Example:
1. What is the set of all fingers in the hand ?

Ways on how to describe a set:

1. Descriptive Form – uses verbal description


of its elements.
2. Set builder or Rule Form –
indicates the properties that its members
must satisfy.

3. Roster or Tabular Form – the elements are


listed, enumerated, separated by commas
and enclosed with braces.
