This failure occurred due to membrane sticks by dispersed glue in the Terminating Action

present anymore. As a containment solution, a better glue quality will be used to

A new cabin residual pressure switch (14WN) design with an O-

Description:

Several operators experienced, at engine shut-down, spurious “CAB PR EXCESS RESIDUAL PR” E/W with CABIN PRESSURE
warning light flashing, sometimes reported with DeltaP = 0 and Outflow Valve opened.

Consequence:

In case of spurious “CAB PR EXCESS RESIDUAL PR” E/W triggering associated with CABIN PRESSURE warning light flashing, the
flight crew must order the cabin crew to keep the doors closed until “CAB PR EXCESS RESIDUAL PR” E/W disappears. Because in
case of “CAB PR EXCESS RESIDUAL PR” E/W confirmed (residual pressure into cabin), opening the cabin doors leading to a rapid
decompression.

Investigation Status:

Investigation performed on A350 is valid for A320FAM due to same component on all Airbus program.

The root cause analysis identified the cabin residual pressure switch (14WN) as contributor for erroneous residual pressure indication. This
failure occurred due to membrane sticks by dispersed glue in the residual pressure detected position, even if no residual pressure is present
anymore.

Figure 1: Membrane with dispersed glue

Cabin pressure switch membrane glue dispersion leading to a switching delay. Based on tests performed a delay up to 8min has
been identify.

Mitigation / Interim Plan:

The flight operation department are currently reviewing the possibility to provide mitigation actions, expected for beginning of Q4-
2019. (A350 temporary abnormal procedure in FCOM cannot be used on A320FAM).

Maintenance Information:

In the case of “CAB PR EXCESS RESIDUAL PR” E/W associated with CABIN PRESSURE warning light flashing occurs on ground,
follow TSM TASK 52-73-00-810-801-A (Abnormal Flashing of the CABIN PRESSURE Warning Light Panels of the Passenger/ Crew
Doors).

In the case of “CAB PR EXCESS RESIDUAL PR” E/W occurs on ground, follow TSM TASK 21-31-00-810-845-A (Excess Residual-
Pressure Fault).

Repercussions on A/C Operations:

A failure of the cabin residual pressure switch (14WN) due to membrane glue dispersion could lead to a spurious triggering of “CAB
PR EXCESS RESIDUAL PR” E/W associated to CABIN PRESSURE warning light flashing and leading to delays (keep the doors closed
until E/W disappears and maintenance actions).

Permanent Solution:

As a containment solution, a better glue quality will be used to improve the actual cabin residual pressure switch (14WN) design,
expected target date Q1-2020.

A new cabin residual pressure switch (14WN) design with an O-ring as sealing has been developed, instead of the current glue
(hylomar).

This new cabin residual pressure switch (14WN) is expected for Q4-2020.
