I’m Jodie Johnson. I’m just fifteen years old but I write a very popular blog. It all started when my dad got
a job in a different city when I was thirteen, so I had to move to a new school.
I had a really difficult time at first. I was a little bit behind the other kids, so I had to study really hard. I
was terribly afraid that I would fail. And even worse, there was a lot of peer pressure. The girls all had
fashionable designer clothes. I wore more casual, sporty clothes and I didn’t fit in at all. Some girls even made
fun of me because I had acne on my face. Nobody would sit with me in the canteen at lunchtime, so I started
missing lunch. Then, of course, I couldn’t concentrate in class. Everything seemed to be going wrong.
My mum saw how miserable I was, and she suggested writing a blog about my experiences. She thought
it would help me feel better about myself if I shared my thoughts with other teens. At first, I didn’t believe
I could do it but after a few weeks, I decided to try. I wrote about the way my classmates treated me and how
it made me feel.
Now, students all over the world read my blog and leave me encouraging comments. It’s a great feeling.
It helped me feel more confident at school, and once I felt more confident I began to make friends. An article
about my blog even appeared in a teen magazine, so now it’s almost like I’m famous! Nobody would dare to
try to bully me now, because I’d write about it on my blog, and everyone would know how mean they were!
