Experiment no-1
Task 1
Aim: To simulate the circuits and find voltages across
resistors and current through the sources and
resistances.
Software/Hardware used: LT Spice
Theory-Using LT Spice it is very easy to find voltage
across a resistor and current by simulating the circuits

Circuit Diagram:

Output after simulation:

Parallel resistance:

Here by the formula V=IR, current can be calculated in

each resistor,
Thus I(R1) =1mA
I(R2) =0.5mA
I(R3) =0.4mA

Series Resistance: In series combination current in

each resistor is same and equivalent resistance is
given by Req=R1+R2+R3….
Current

Voltage
Here, Voltage in each resistor V=IR
Thus, V(R1)=10V
V(R2)=8.4V
V(R3)=5V
Task2

Aim: To find color code of resistors

Theory: Carbon coding can be done by observing the
values of all the bands and calculating the tolerance
accordingly.

Color 1 Color 2 Color 3 Color 4

330k ohm with 5% Orange Orange Yellow Gold

470k ohm with 10% Yellow Violet Yellow Silver

66kohm with 10% Blue Blue Orange Silver
tolerance
3.2k ohm with 5% Orange Red Red Gold

540ohm with 10% Green Yellow Brown Silver
tolerance
27ohm with 5% Red Violet Black Gold

Task3
Aim: To find total resistance of the circuit seen from
the source
Software/Hardware :LT Spice
Parallel Resistances:

Now here , by using the formula

1/Req=1/R1+1/R2+1/R3
So,
1/Req=1/10000+1/20000+1/30000
1/Req=1/5454.55
Req=5454.55ohm
Output simulation for this circuit:

Current

From this also we can confirm the value of total

resistance.
Here total current i.e. I(R1)+I(R2)+I(R3)=1.83mA

Series resistances:
In series combination equivalent resistance is given by
Req=R1+R2+R3….
Therefore, Req=10k+20k+30k=60k=60000ohm
Output simulation for this circuit:

Voltage

From the above simulation we have the value of

voltage at each resistor:
Voltage drop in circuit is: V1+V2+V3=IR1+IR2+IR3
From ohms law: V=IR
I=10/60k ohm=0.16mA
Total voltage drop=
0.16(10k ohm)+0.16(20k ohm)+0.16(30k ohm)
=9.6V
Now, for equivalent resistance: R=V/I
R=9.6/0.16mA=60 k ohm
RESULT: Equivalent resistance is equal by both
manual calculation and by simulating the circuit and
calculating with the formula V/I.
