Task Purpose and Importance

The use of ATV’s in the seismic industry is extremely important for us to complete our work. An ATV that is in good condition and appeasing in
appearance is easier to work with.

Proper loading of the ATV is a requirement for the operator and should be done in a safe manner to avoid injury to the operator and damage to the
machine. Safety glasses, gloves and helmet must be used at all times.

The steps for loading the ATV are outlined in the proper order. Keep in mind that the steps must be completed in the order that they are listed to
achieve maximum efficiency and avoid losses.

1. Don helmet, safety glasses and gloves. Inspect before to ensure they are in good condition
2. Secure ramps to truck using tie down as seen in photo 1. Review manufacturer specifications if necessary Be sure to check the tie-down for
damage before use.
3. Ensure that your feet are on the footrests at all times to avoid injury to your lower legs. Wear proper footwear.
4. Start engine. Make sure the unit is in neutral. Ensure you are positioned so you cannot be trapped anywhere
5. Shift to first gear. Ensure gears are working by conducting a pre-use inspection.
6. Approach straight on to the ramps. Position the ATV before you attempt to mount, balance your weight.
7. Shift weight forward as detailed in photo 2. . Balance your weight as you move.
8. Slowly ride up the ramps, gently increasing throttle until the ATV is fully loaded on the truck bed. Stopping too soon could cause the ATV to
roll backwards and causing an injury or damage to the unit. Use a spotter.
9. Come to a stop using all brakes. Have hands on the breaks ready to use, Ensure breaks were inspected pre-use.
10. Set parking brake. Ensure Break is working

12. Turn off ignition. Do not use too much force on the key. Put keys in safe place.
13. Turn off fuel valve and engine switch. Check for fuel leaks, Make sure there is a spill kit nearby.
14. Using 4 tie downs, secure all four corners of the unit, depressing suspension slightly while securing. Inspect straps before use. See Photo 3.
