CHAPTER IV

RESULT AND DISCUSSION

This chapter presented and discussed the data gathered from the responses of
Grade 11 and Grade 12 Accountancy Business and Management Students from the
survey. The socio-demographic characteristics of the respondents such as Age and
Gender and the difficulties in adaptation of new normal education (learning approach) in
terms of Digital, Internet Connection and Other Distractions.

The data showed that there are 21 ABM students, where 11-Compassion has one (1)
male and two (2) female with the total of three (3) and in 12- St. Catherine of Ricci has
one (1) male and 17 female with the total of 18. Findings showed that female is more that
male in ABM strand of College for Research and Technology.

The data showed that in 11-Compassion there is three (3) students ages 17-19 and
zero (0) in ages 20-21 and in 12-St. Catherine of Ricci there is 16 students ages 17-19 and
two (2) in ages 20-21. Data showed that ages 17-19 is more than ages 20-21 in ABM
strand of College for Research and Technology.

The table showed the answer of the respondents in the given questions. In
difficulties in adaptation of new normal education (learning approach) in terms of digital

(2) respondents answered Strongly Disagree (SD), zero (0) in Disagree (D), 17 in Agree

online learning. Third question is if they are satisfied with the technology and software

Disagree (SD), four (4) in Disagree (D), 15 in Agree (A), one (1) in Strongly Agree (SA)
with the total of 21 and has a weighted mean of 2.87 that resulting respondents Agreed
that they are satisfied with the technology and software they are using in this new normal
education. Last question in terms of Digital is if they have access to a device for learning
online, one (1) respondent answered Strongly Disagree (SD), two (2) in Disagree, 16 in
Agree (A), two (2) in Strongly Agree (SA) with the total of 21 and has a weighted mean
of 2.90 that resulting respondents Agreed that they have access to a device for learning
online. Table showed that many students Agreed in difficulties in adaptation of new
normal education (learning approach) in terms of digital. It means that all of the
respondents are not having difficulties in terms of digital devices that are primary needed
for the new normal learning approach. According to DepEd, that one of the advantages of
online classes is that there are numerous options for learning and that this mode of
education is not just for those who have computers, laptops or smartphones. It added that
having the right equipment is still important. DepEd Secretary Leonor Briones earlier
said that the department will use its additional funds to provide gadgets and computers to
schools and students as it implements a distance learning program. A portion of the funds
will also go to its planned reproduction of printed Self-Learning Modules. She added that
the department will also improve its Learning Continuity Plan and the Last Miles School
project which aids 3,000 schools in remote areas that have no internet
connectivity. (Miranda, 2020)

having stable internet connection. Second question is if they find it difficult in joining
online learning because of poor internet connection, one (1) respondent answered
Strongly Disagree (SD), two (2) in Disagree (D), 15 in Agree (A), three (3) in Strongly
Agree (SA) with the total of 21 and has a weighted mean of 2.95 that resulting
respondents Agreed that they find it difficult in joining online learning because of poor
internet connection. Last question in terms of Internet Connection is if internet
connection has a big impact in their studies in this new normal learning, one (1)
respondent answered Strongly Disagree (SD), two (2) in Disagree (D), 14 in Agree (A),
four (4) in Strongly Agree (SA) with the total of 21 and has a weighted mean of 3.00 that
resulting respondents Agreed that the internet connection has a big impact in their studies
in this new normal learning. It means that all of the students are having difficulties in
terms of internet connection that are needed for the new normal learning approach. Some
teachers and students encountered Internet connection problems for their online classes.
DepEd added, that one of the alternative learning modalities under distance learning.
DepEd Undersecretary and spokesperson Annalyn Sevilla, in a CNN Philippines
interview, noted that the connectivity problem is an issue that is beyond DepEd’s control.
“Internet problem is not just a problem in the Philippines but it’s also a problem
globally”. (Malipot,2020)

The table showed the answer of the respondents in the given question. In
difficulties in adaption in new normal education (learning approach) in terms of other
distractions first question is if they find it difficult adapting new normal education
system, zero (0) respondent answered Strongly Disagree (SD), two (2) in Disagree (D),
16 in Agree (A), and three (3) in Strongly Agree (SA) with the total of 21 respondents
and has a weighted mean of 3.05 that resulting respondents agreed that they find it
difficult adapting new normal education system.

Second question is if they have difficult time to communicate with their


classmates, zero (0) respondent answered Strongly Disagree (SD), three (3) in Disagree
(D) , 17 in Agree (A), and one (1) in Strongly Agree (SA) with the total of 21
respondents and has a weighted mean of 2.90 that resulting respondents agreed that they
have difficult time to communicate with their classmates.

Third question is if they have enough knowledge with this new normal education
system, zero (0) respondent answered Strongly Disagree (SD), four (4) in Disagree (D),
17 in Agree (A), and zero (0) in Strongly Agree (SA) with the total of 21 respondents and
has a weighted mean of 2.81 that resulting respondents agreed that they have enough
knowledge with this new normal education system.

Fourth question is if they can manage their time well by doing their modules,
zero (0) respondent answered Strongly Disagree (SD), two (2) in Disagree (D), 19 in
Agree (A), and zero (0) in Strongly Agree (SA) with the total of 21 respondents and has a
weighted mean of 2.90 that resulting respondents agreed that they can manage their time
well by doing their modules.

Fifth question is if their teachers is a big help to their studies, zero (0) respondent
answered Strongly Disagree (SD), one (1) in Disagree (D), 18 in Agree (A) and two (2)
in Strongly Agree (SA) with the total of 21 respondents and has a weighted mean of 3.05
that resulting respondents agreed that their teachers is a big help to their studies.

Sixth question is if they are pressured to finish their modules prior to the
deadlines, zero (0) respondent answered Strongly Disagree (SD), three (3) in Disagree
(D), 16 in Agree (A), and two (2) in Strongly Agree (SA) with the total of 21 respondents
and has a weighted mean of 2.95 that resulting respondents agreed that they are pressured
to finish their modules prior to the deadlines.

Seventh question is if online learning is stressful for them, zero (0) answer in
Strongly Disagree (SD), one (1) in Disagree (D), 17 in Agree (A), three (3) in Strongly
Agree (SA) with the total of 21 and has a weighted mean of 3.10 that resulting
respondents Agreed that online learning is stressful for them.

Eight question is if they are satisfied with their academic performance during this
new normal, zero (0) answer in Strongly Disagree (SD), two (2) in Disagree (D), 19 in
Agree (A), zero (0) in Strongly Agree (SA) with the total of 21 and has a weighted mean
of 2.90 that resulting respondents Agreed that they are satisfied with their academic
performance during this new normal.

Ninth question is if they are having hard time to manage other things aside from
studying ( household chores, work), zero (0) answer in Strongly Disagree (SD), two (2)
in Disagree (D), 16 in Agree (A), three (3) in Strongly Agree (SA) with the total of 21
and has a weighted mean of 3.05 that resulting respondents Agreed that they are having
hard time to manage other things aside from studying ( household chores, work).

Last question in terms of Other Distractions is if they are easily distracted by


other things like mobile games, zero (0) answer in Strongly Disagree (SD), eight (8) in
Disagree (D), 13 in Agree (A), zero (0) in Strongly Agree (SA) with the total of 21 and
has a weighted mean of 2.62 that resulting respondents Agreed that they are easily
distracted by other things like mobile games. It means that all of the students are having
difficulties in terms of other distractions in this new normal learning approach. Students
in the Philippines confronted several interrelated distractions as they tried to adapt to new
normal education system. Most frequently encountered were difficulty adjusting learning
styles, having to perform responsibilities at home, and poor communication between
educators and learners. By implementing student-centered interventions, educators play a
significant role in addressing these challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic and
beyond. (Sy, Reyes 2021).

CHAPTER V

CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATION

This chapter presents the summary of findings, conclusions made, and


recommendations offered in relation to the entire study.

SUMMARY

This study was entitled “Difficulties of Grade 11 and Grade 12 Accountancy


Business and Management Students in Adaptation of New Normal Education (Learning
Approach) in College for Research and Technology”. The researchers used the
quantitative descriptive type of survey questionnaire as an instrument in data gathering.
The respondents were ABM Students with the total of 21 respondents.

The findings of the Study were summarized as follows:

I. Socio-demographic Profile of the Respondents


 In terms of gender of the Grade 11 and Grade 12 Accountancy Business and
Management (ABM) Students composed of two (2) males and 19 females with
the total of 21.
 In terms of Age, 19 respondents were at the ages of 17-19 and two (2)
respondents were at the ages of 20-21.

II. Difficulties in Adaptation of New Normal Education (Learning


Approach) in terms of Digital

 The Grade 11 and Grade 12 Accountancy Business and Management (ABM)


Students were Agree on the questions in the Difficulties in Adaptation of New
Normal Education (Learning Approach) in terms of Digital. And it shows that
most of the respondents doesn’t have difficulties in terms Digitals.

III. Difficulties in Adaptation of New Normal Education (Learning


Approach) in terms of Internet Connection

 The Grade 11 and Grade 12 Accountancy Business and Management (ABM)

connection and Agreed in Difficulties in joining online learning because of poor


internet connection and if internet connection has a big impact in their studies in
this new normal Learning.
IV. Difficulties in Adaptation of New Normal Education (Learning
Approach) in terms of Other Distractions

 The Grade 11 and Grade 12 Accountancy Business and Management (ABM)


Students were Agreed on the questions under the Difficulties in Adaptation of
New Normal Education (Learning Approach) in terms of Other Distractions.

CONCLUSION

The following were drawn based on the findings of the study:

I. Socio-demographic Profile of the Respondents

 A total of 21 respondents composed of two (2) males and 19 females. And most
of the respondents were ages 17-19 based on the data gathered.
II. Difficulties in Adaptation of New Normal Education (Learning
Approach) in terms of Digital, Internet Connection and Other
Distractions.

 According to the data gathered with the survey questionnaire, the Grade 11 and
Grade 12 Accountancy Business and Management (ABM) Students were having
Difficulties in Adaptation of New Normal Education (Learning Approach) in
terms of Internet Connection and Other Distractions while they are not having
difficulties in terms of digital devices because they have a personal gadgets to use

in this new normal learning. Therefore, it implies that most of all the respondents
are all experiencing difficulties in this new normal Learning Approach, especially
in terms of Internet Connection and Other Distractions.

RECOMMENDATIONS

The following recommendations are offered based on the conclusions drawn;

1. The incoming ABM students should be prepared for the new normal education so
they can easily adjust in this situation.
2. Parents should be aware on how to face the system of new normal education and
to prepare more about it.
3. Future researchers should conduct study on how incoming ABM students to be
more prepared in this new normal education.
