“THE EFFECTS OF CURFEW HOURS AMONG TEENAGERS”

Chapter 1

INTRODUCTION

BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY

Nowadays, people had experience with curfews. It is a local ordinances that prohibit people of a

certain age from being in public or in a business establishment during certain hours. But, curfews are

more than just house rules. Curfew is the time at which you should be back home and safe.

Having a curfew is ineffective and useless, they say. Many people say that the curfews need to

implement because it will keep young people out of trouble. If curfew was enforced it would eventually

help kids be more responsible and trust worthy. Although some might think otherwise, High Schoolers

are irresponsible and cannot be trusted enough to not have a curfew?

Republic act No. 9344 or known as the Juvenile justice and Welfare act of 2006. Juvenile curfew

laws are local ordinances that prohibit people of a certain age (usually under 18) from being in public or

in a business establishment during certain hours (such as between 11:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m.).

The country has the responsibility of preserving the safety of its people. It is by practicing and

performing what the law stated to protect the community and the country for everyone. People should

also understand that the government has the right to implement a law.

Curfews have many advantages that teenagers does not realize; these advantages include staying

out of trouble, better time management, and teenagers give more focus in school.  When following
curfews, teens tend to stay out of trouble more because criminal activity or high-risk behaviour is more

likely happen later in the evening when many people are sleep.  Curfews help teens to become more

disciplined, and to manage their time properly. Being able to manage time effectively is useful in a

variety of situations including school, work, and personal relationships. Setting curfews also help teens

to be able to get to sleep early, which leads the teenagers to have a high grades. 

STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

This study determines the curfew management in Pangpangdan Sto. Domingo Ilocos Sur

This study should aims to answer the following questions:

1. What is the positive effects of this order to the teenagers in Barangay Pangpangdan?

2. What happens to Violators?

3. What are the benefits of a curfew -- for the teen and for the parent?

SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY

The research would be beneficial to the following:

To the residents, this research will educate the residents about the curfew.

To the future researcher, it helps other researchers to know more about the curfew.
 SCOPE AND DELIMITATION

This study focuses on the curfew hour and their benefits to Barangay Pangpangdan Sto.

Domingo. The subject of this study is about the residents from Barangay Pangpangdan to gather data: 50

respondents would use to gather data.

HYPOTHESIS

Teenagers will be safe if they follow the order.

OPERATIONAL DEFINITION OF TERMS

Curfew, a regulation requiring people to remain indoors between specified hours, typically at night.

Juvenile, relating to young people

ASSUMPTIONS:

1. The respondents will answer the questions honestly.

2. The respondents will cooperate.

3. The respondents will be serious when they interviewed.
