INTRODUCTION

What is the nature and meaning of numbers for you? As Zachary Karabell said, we are
bombarded everyday with numbers that tell us how we are doing, whether the economy is growing
or shrinking, whether the future looks bright or dim. Gross National product, balance of trade,
unemployment, inflation, and consumer confidence guide our actions, yet few of us know where
these numbers come from, what they mean, or why they rule our world.
Rearrange the jumbled letters to identify the concept/word being described.
1. [WLEHO]. The set of counting numbers and zero.
2. [NITGEER]. The set of counting numbers, zero, and negative numbers.
3. [LARITONA]. The set of counting numbers that can be expressed as ratio of two numbers.

4. [RAROITLANI].The set of nonterminating nonrepeating decimals.

5. [UTARNLA]. The set of counting numbers.

The diagram below illustrates the real numbers.
