When becoming a coach, I have goals and expectations on my team that will help to

create the structure of the team. In my program the first and most important goal will always

be creating better people from the people that are on my team. Creating good people is more

important than winning any game, since players will carry it through life. I will do this by setting

high standards among the teams when it comes to sportsmanship and respect to others and

anything we do. If there is a space we use or locker room it will be left clean when we leave no

matter how it looked when we arrived. My teams will win with class and not degrade the

people we just competed against. The players on my team will also always give their best effort

when they are on the field. Creating an environment of hard work and dedication to the team

creates a more cohesive group that can bond better and grow as a whole. My teams will also

lose with class, because not every game will be a victory and the way that the team will show

their true sportsmanship will be losing and learning from the experience and showing the other

team the respect, they deserve after playing them. All of these goals will be given utmost

importance through the whole season of play.

The environment that my team will have is one that will have everyone on the same

page and has a common goal that we will all get behind and work towards. My players will

support each other in their struggles and celebrate their triumphs together and every time in

between. Not every player will be best friends off the field but on the field, they will fight for

one another. I will always be open to talk to with my players about whatever they feel

comfortable to tell me, and I will listen and help in whatever way I can for them. If that is with

personal issues that are appropriate to talk about, I will help them or something they want to

improve on I want my players to be okay with talking to me. I want players to say that I was a
positive father figure for them because those were always the most impactful and my favorite

coach when I was playing.

My plan for practices, competitions, and improvement are based on the age and skill

level of my players and team I am coaching. I will though come to practice knowing what the

drills, goals, and corrections the team needs to make for us to get better and for us to grow

every practice. The younger teams will spend more time on skills while the older teams will

spend more time on tactical and team plays rather than skill development. Growing from

everything that happens will be a large element on all my teams. Seeing what works and

doesn’t and how to fix what isn’t working will help players grow from mistakes and strive to get

better continuously.
