Daily Progress Report

Dated 08-07-2020
DAILY REPORT

Overview:
Visited the power plant site and followed the operation and maintenance
activities performed during the day.

Operation Activities:
The complex was running on baseload with a combination of 3+1.
 During the day, GT-1 was operating at baseload.
 GT-2 is operating at baseload.
 GT-3 is operating at baseload.

Water Washing:
After yesterday’s morning performance test, the water washing of all three gas
turbines was again carried out. Online water washing helps in increasing the
overall output and efficiency by a slight margin.
DAILY REPORT

Performance Test:
Again today, the performance test of complete power plant was carried out. The
values of different parameters involved were noted after every 5 minutes. The
test was continued in the morning for 2.5 hours. Performance test had to be
carried out in the evening also but due to constant decrease in main gas header
pressure, the overall load had to be decreased. As the load was decreased so it
was not possible to carry out the performance test so it was delayed.

Maintenance Activities:
During the day, visited the plant site area and closely observed the maintenance
activities performed by different departments. The maintenance activities
attended are listed below:

88BT-01:
At GT-01, the flapper of 88BT-01 (Turbine compartment ventilation fan) was tripped when
operation department tried to take it in service. Mechanical maintenance department attended
the activity and found that the flapper of 88BT-01 is broken. To fix the issue the broken flapper,
welding is required. But as GT-01 is in operation so it is not possible to performed welding on it
when the GT-01 is at standby or during shutdown period.

PEECC-02:
During rain, the water from the roof of PEECC-02 flows down in the PEECC.
Mechanical maintenance department was informed about the issue. Mechanical
team attended the activity to fix the leakage issue of the roof. Mechanical team
installed the metallic sheet on the roof in order to stop the water leakage in the
PEECC.
DAILY REPORT

PM Checks:
Electrical maintenance department performed the activity of preventive
maintenance checks of load gear compartment fans 88VG-1 and 88VG-2, turbine
compartment ventilation fans 88BT-1 and 88BT-2 and exhaust frame cooling fan
88EF1 and 88EF-2. Except for 88BT-1 of GT-01 all the other fan motors were
observed normal and there was no abnormality.

Sponge Ball Cleaning System:

Sponge ball cleaning system is taken in service on daily basis in order to perform
cleaning of condenser water box tubes and condenser brass wall for better
efficiency and to avoid blockage of tubes. The system was taken in service for 2
hours and balls collecting time in collector was set at 4 hours. The balls collected
in both sides A and B of sponge ball cleaning system were more than 90 which is a
very good percentage.
